MY LATEST RECIPES

I had promised my daughter that I would make her chocolate pancakes this morning, but to my surprise, I woke up and realized I ran out of chocolate! Now, sure I could have just made something else for breakfast.. but if you have a 5 year old and you promised them something and didn’t deliver.. you are never going to hear the end of it!

So I decided to use the cake mix instead. I mean its the same stuff right? flour, eggs, coco powder, baking powder.

To my surprise the pancakes turned out amazing! Soft and fluffy. Extra moist and chocolaty! My daughter and husband loved them so much.

What can I say that hasn’t already been said. Excellent recipe for fluffy and light pancakes. I did let my batter sit for 5-10 minutes to make sure the batter had time to rest. Absolutely perfect – my family raved! Thanks. ο»Ώ

Just wanting clarification as well. Just the cake mix and milk or make the cake mix as instructed and then add milk? Love the idea.

I’m not sure I’m understanding. How much flour are you adding to the 2 cups of cake mix? And no eggs? Seem delicious but I need to be sure of how much flour and cake mix to add. Thanks.

This also works with cheap muffin mixes. My kids enjoy strawberry and apple cinnamon as well as chocolate. Thanks for the reminder, though. Was looking for breakfast for this weekend.

I’m not sure I’m understanding. Just the cake mix and milk? Or make up the cake mix and then add milk? Could you spell it out for me?

    • Layla

      Hi stacy,

Just mix the flour itself with milk or water. You might need to add a little more/less milk until the batter is like pancake batter. Let me know how they turn out!

Yummm! I’m going to date myself here. Ever see Bill Cosby…Himself? He is to feed the kids breakfast one morning. He asks what they want, they reply chocolate cake. He thinks about it–eggs, flour, milk–nutrition!! Chocolate cake for breakfast. Kids overjoyed ruckus brings mom downstairs. She’s less enthused I’ll say. Made me chuckle.

      Thanks Janet!
Oh wow that’s a classic! I have got to see that episode. Bill Cosby is right, Eggs, Flour, Milk.. Nutrition! πŸ˜€ You know what they say, great minds think alike πŸ˜‰

Thanks Leslie! Yea it really does open the door to a ton of possibilities. I will be trying some more flavors this week and posting them to let you know! πŸ™‚

This is such a great idea! To be fair though, it’s really not two ingredient pancakes. I found this on Pinterest and the title “2 Ingredient Chocolate Pancakes” is what drew me to it.

    • Layla

Hi Aliesha, I am sorry if you misunderstood. The two ingredients are the cake mix and the flour I added. Anything besides that is just creativity! πŸ™‚

        Hi Layla,
Your pancake recipe sounds delicious, but I don’t understand why you say “cake mix flour” instead of just cake mix. It’s confusing people with the flour part. For some there’s no confusion, but others there can be because there is cake flour. On your reply to Aleisha on 12/8/13 you said; only thing two things you use is the cake mix and the flour. Which I’m sure you meant cake mix and milk. But I did notice there are several comments of people wanting to know where the flour part comes in. It would simplify for those that do not bake regularly on the difference between just stating cake mix and not cake mix flour.
I do thank you for sharing the wonderful recipes.
