If you love red velvet cake, you’re going to love these red velvet pancakes with Cream Cheese Syrup. They’re light & fluffy and make the perfect valentine’s Day breakfast in under 20 minutes!

I love eating red velvet cakes, bars, cupcakes, you name it! more importantly, I just LOVE pancakes! so this is like the best of both worlds and came just in time for Valentine’s day.

I decided to use what I call ‘cream cheese syrup’ instead of maple syrup because well, cream cheese frosting and red velvet are meant to be together and I hated to separate them during Valentine’s day! the syrup was delicious and super easy to make.

What you Will Need to Make Red Velvet Pancakes

The trick to these red velvet pancakes is to use a red velvet cake mix. You will also need flour, milk, an egg, and butter or oil for greasing the pan.

How to Make Red Velvet Pancakes

To begin making these pancakes whisk the milk and egg until combined then whisk in the cake flour as well as the all-purpose flour.

Next, it’s time to cook the pancakes. Cook the pancakes for about 1 minute per side or until fluffy and cooked through. Be sure to cook on low-medium heat so they don’t over-burn.

The last and final step is to make the cream cheese frosting. To make it, simply whisk all the ingredients in a small bowl until lump-free and creamy.

Drizzle the pancakes with this delicious cream cheese “syrup” ad enjoy!

Pro tip: If you don’t have red velvet cake mix on hand you can use ANY flavor of cake mix!

  1. Excellent! I had canned cream cheese icing handy. so I just warmed some in the microwave and drizzled it on top.

  2. We’ve used this recipe so many times! It’s a hit with the kids and hubby. I wonder how I could make red velvet waffles with this recipe?

  3. First time ever making Waffles. I used this recipe to make Honey cornflake chicken and waffles 🧇. It was AMAZING!!!!!

  4. Could the batter mix be saved for the next day or would it start to turn?

  5. This recipe is awful. They came out brown, and I followed the recipe. You had to wait literally forever just to flip them on such a low power because the batter was super thick and would have problems cooking all the way through. The final product looked so crappy. Huge disappointment on vday morning 😂

    1. I don’t remember what brand it was but it would be from the 2-3 major brands on the shelves. Any brand should work just fine!

  6. These turned out great, very tasty and look great too. Our stove (electric) has 10 marks, and 3 was perfect. Also, I used Duncan Hines red velvet cake mix, should anyone question if brand matters.

One question, my wife thought they were great, but asked if they could be a little bit less rich. Would you substitute some more flour for some of the cake mix? Perhaps 1.5 cups cake mix and 1 cup flour?

  7. These Were very Fluffy! The marriage of flavors was delightful and the kids loved them. The addiTion of more flour was what was needed to add that densIty that took tHem from cake to pancakes. I think i could have tUrNed the heat down a little and in the end i did. Will definitely make again – maybe next time with butter cake mix! My daughter said she thought it tasted like funnel cake – they definitely smelled like they would!

  8. I have made these pancakes for my daughter for her birthday for the past two years. This recipe is perfect. i did not add anything and they are amazing. A hit with the entire family!!! They are beautiful if you cook them over a low heat and take your time.

  9. These were aweome and they came out perfectly. I made these for my husband for his Birthday and he loved them.

  10. Yes these look amazing and cute in the picture, but DO NOT MAKE THEM!!! They wouldn’t flip, they didn’t taste that good, they looked nothing like in the picture, and they weren’t a pretty vibrant red (more of a pink and brown). Honestly they’re just not worth the trouble of making them. On the other hand, the cream cheese syrup was ok. It was too sweet though, and it’s very fattening. Overall this recipe is 1 out of 5.

    1. You made them wrong then. Mine came out perfect.

    2. you must have done something not right along the way. i even tweaked this (added a bit of van. extract, b. powder) came out looking like same above.

    3. I think you possible made them wrong but I would like to add that it is not cool to Food shame. Fearing food is not helpful.

  11. I don’t think they have to be enjoyed only on Valentines day. I made them for my mom and her friend when they came to visit me.

  12. How many pancakes does this recipe make? You said it serves 4, but is that 1 pancake each? or more? I’m hoping to make these for a Valentine’s breakfast, but I want to make sure it’s enough! Thanks!

    1. It makes 8-10 pancakes depending on how big you make them. I doubled the recipe to accommodate my family. Everyone got 3 pancakes.

  13. What a great idea! And perfect for Valentine’s Day!

  14. So cute and fluffy, these pancakes are perfect for a romantic breakfast!

  15. Oh man!! I would LOVE to wake up to these any day of the week!! Seriously drooling over these!
