Creamy Avocado Cilantro Lime Dressing

Lately, my brand new secret obsession is avocados. I have them on eggs, rice bowls, bagels, toast, breakfast, lunch, dinner, you name it! They’re in season here and I usually find them on sale, so I’m trying to use them s much as I can before they go out of season. My favorite thing about avocados is their creamy texture and the fact that they are a super healthy source of fat. So I finally realized how ridiculously easy it is to make avocado dressing and how seriously delicious it is!

You know it’s going to be a great day when you dress your salad up with this delicious creamy avocado dressing. Not to hammer all of you vinaigrette salad dressers out there, but I’m on time creamy dressing all the way. Like seriously, who can turn down creamy dressing?! I sure can’t. Ever since I can remember, I’ve always preferred creamy dressings. whether it was Caesar, thousand islands, or the classic ranch, I just can never get enough.

One downside to creamy dressing though is that they are loaded with calories and that sort of defeats the whole purpose of eating a salad. Even a tablespoon or two on a salad can easily pack on at least a hundred calories. Yikes! Luckily, with this healthier alternative to creamy dressing, you can have your salad and eat it too (get it?). Try this healthier dressing on your next salad and I promise your salad will thank you, and you might just come back here and thank me too! 😀

Also, I will be sharing a salad recipe that pairs perfectly with this yummy dressing soon. Keep your eyes peeled for it and give this recipe a try on different types of salads and let me know how it turns out for you!

  5. This is so delicious. I can’t wait to taste it on my Chicken Al Pastor rice bowls for dinner. I used sour cream and lime juice because that was what I had. I also used home-grown cilantro. This may turn out to be a favorite.

  6. How many calories is this?! sounds yummy i can’t wait to add it to my burrito bowls!!!!

  7. Smells and tastes great. Garlic is strong – recommend roasting it first. I also added a couple tablespoons of mayo and a half teaspoon of sugar to counterbalance bitterness

  8. I’d like to try this today but I don’t like cilantro. Do you think another herb would work? Basil?

  9. I have 3 avocados that are ripening NOW and would like to use all of them in this recipe. Is it possible to freeze this dressing?

    1. I Haven’t tried freezing it and I don’t know how the avocado would hold up in the freezer but it lasts at least 2 weeks in the fridge.

    2. You can freeze whole, ripe avocados. When they thaw, the texture of the avo is really creamy and perfect for dressings.

  10. I made this last night for dinner with salad and love it! I’m assuming the extra could be added to tuna fish for sandwiches?

  11. Love avocados and this recipe. I did substitute avocado oil for the EVOO though. Thank you for this recipe.

  12. My husband just made It, I think ours needs to be chilled first. It’s very tangy but tasty! Much better then store bought.

  13. Really good added a few jalapeños slices,3T rice vinegar,1/2 lemon,dash or 2 cumin

  16. Hi! I’d love to try this recipe with company this weekend, but have been waiting for the salad recipe you said you would post. I can come up with my own, but I’d really like to heat your suggestion.

    1. Would using frozen avocados taste just as good as fresh avocados in the recipe?

  17. I’m not a huge fan of cilantro. Is the cilantro in this recipe strong? if so, would it effect anything to leave the cilantro out?

    1. You can replace the cilantro with dill or your favorite herb if you’d like.

  18. I just made this dressing this morning, and even though I should be craving eggs, I want to have a salad and its only 9:15!! How absolutely easy and delicious this is! I may NEVER MAKE RANCH DRESSING AGAIN. I JUST HAPPENED TO HAVE EVERYTHING ON HAND SO I THOUGHT I’d SEE HOW THIS WOULD TASTE, ALL I CAN SAY IS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, YOU HAVE EXCEPTIONAL RECIPIES HERE AND I WILL ALWAYS BE RETURNING TO THIS SITE. tHANKS AGAIN!!

  19. I AM NOT A AVOCADO FAN, BUT BEING ON KETO I TRY TO GET IT IN TO MY DIET, THANK YOU FOR THIS RECIPE I LOVE IT.

  20. This looks amazing 🙂 My girls and I both love avocados so this will be great for our grilling season (I make a lot of salads during grilling season!) Question tho is how long does this last in the fridge? I know avocado browns easily but I would imagine that the lime would stop it from browning as quickly. Just trying to judge how much to make at a time.

    Can’t wait to try this!

  21. The reCipe says “cook time 2 minutes”
Can you please tell me whar you are cooking?
A friend made this and it was fantastic!!y

  22. 3rd try, adjusted Little things…

1/2 the sour cream (or greek yoggy)
    4 TBSP olive oil
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp dill leaves (dried)
    1/2 tsp dry powdered onion

Hit the mark, on the money. I have tried both lime and lemon, and the lime is preferred, taste-wise.

  23. hOW MANY SERVINGS DOES THIS RECIPE MAKE AND HOW LONG CAN THE EXTRA DRESSING BE STORED FOR?

    1. The recipe makes about 1 cup and can be stored in the fridge for 1-2 weeks.

  24. Hi, can I make this without salt? Taste would be same?

  25. This is so good. Just made it. One clove of garlic was perfect and I added a Jhaleno to give a kick. Thank you 🙂 almost licked my food processor and stopped.

  26. This was so delicious! This will be added to my “go to” list!

  27. This RECIPE is perfect to my taste. So good. I eat my greens everyday and use this as my salad dressing and THE AVOCADOS are on sale in our local market. Also my FAVORITE for using as a dipping sauCe. Thank you for sharingthe recipe.
