Healthy avocado toast is super easy to make and makes the perfect addition to any breakfast or an anytime snack!
Healthy 5 Minute Avocado ToastAvocado toast has become my new favorite breakfast/snack. It’s healthy, simple, and delicious and best of all, it’s super easy to make and ready in under 5 minutes. In fact, this recipe is so simple we can hardly call it a recipe, but I had to share it with you because of how good it is!

This recipe is for simple avocado toast but the possibilities are endless. Sometimes we like to zest up the avocado toast and top it with tomatoes, bacon, beans, jalapeno, spinach, salmon, or pretty much anything else!
Healthy 5 Minute Avocado ToastTo begin, simply toast your bread; You can use any kind of toast or sliced bread you have but I like to use crusty bread or whole grain toast.  Next, mash an avocado in a small bowl with a fork. Add cilantro, lime, and salt + pepper then spread the mixture on the toasted slice of bread. Sprinkle with pepper flakes and serve!

If you’re having it for breakfast go ahead and top the avocado with an egg cooked any way you like. Our favorite is a sunny side up but poached, scrambled or even hard-boiled also works well.

  1. watching boomers fight in the comments over toast made my day

  2. i added finely chopped onion tomato and cumin powder to the avocado .. it was yumm!! what a flavor burst .. i also applied some butter on my bread after toasting them and then followed by the avocado mixture

  3. My first time making avocado toast!
It tastes amazing. I am now hooked.

  4. This recipe is the BEST! Substituted cilantro with coriander leaf, add a bit of chopped onions & olive oil. YUUM! 😋

    1. Yum! in the U.S cilantro is actually coriander leaf. Only the dry version is called coriander but it’s all the same regardless 😉

    2. I hope that you’ve learned by now that cilantro & coriander are the same thing 😭

      1. cilantro is the name for the plant’s leaves and stem and coriander is the name for its dried seeds.

        1. Good to know. I appreciate the information. I’m just getting into watching the things I eat for a healthier lifestyle. There is so much information out there on one topic it’s hard to say what’s true or not. Please share any information you have about ant product that’s beneficial to me

  5. Jas become family favourite..NOw i have to buy avocados eveytime i go to the market. Tqvm for the healthy recipe.

      1. Love this recipe and so do my kids. They go crazy for it. We already eat a lot of eggs so we eat it spread on a good quality toasted bread for lunch. Simply delicious ! Thanks

          1. As a teen cook this was such an amazing fast easy recipe right before school I’m a vegetarian football player of 8years and love this to help give me the energy throughout the day thank you so much!!

    1. This is great but I had no cilantro and forgot the pepper flakes… lol was really good. I did put coconut oil in the pan, fried the egg.. meantime mixed the avocado and stuff together. After removing the egg from the pan, I had a tad more coconut oil and threw my slice of bread in there and browned both sides OMG fantastic. I wish I could post a pic! Try this you will not be disappointed!!

  6. Healthy? One serving with an egg contains almost half of the recommended daily sodium intake and 2/3rds of cholesterol.

    1. Avocados are a healthy source of fat and for the egg, you can use egg whites if you’d like and season to taste.

    2. Stop being a hater Kathryn its not cute. Thanks for sharing this delicious recipe!

      1. I agree with Johana. If you don’t like or want some ingredient, just substitute it with something more preferable to you, or just find another recipe. There’s no need to be negative about a RECIPE, for heaven’s sake. I’m sure there are many other things you can find to complain about elsewhere.

Layla, thanks for the great recipe! I’ve made it both ways, and they’re equally luscious – we just cut back our fat intake for the rest of the day. Our whole family loves this simple breakfast – and it’s now our favorite snack as well! 😉

        1. Hey Dr Ellie, why don’t you do something useful like helping covid patients. Berating people on a food chat is pretty low. Be better, Lady doc.

          1. I’m just watching these people fight over Avocado toast while eating it

      2. Johanna, you’re a loser. The woman didn’t hate anything, but she should hate your stupid comment. And the Dr too. Idiots.

    3. I don’t t think that’s totally accurate. I googled nutrition value if an avocado and it was a lot different and it has good fats but you do have to watch the calories and eat with a workout routine… if you plan on eating a lot of it lol… look into it. 😊

    4. Only a small percentage of cholesterol goes into your blood stream, read about eggs
      This is extremely healthy

  7. A delicious breakfast I followed the recipe to the letter and decided on fried eggs, but if you want extra kick top with Tobasco sauce gives it that extra heat that I love

  8. I’m so glad I tried this RECEIPE for breakfast. It was delicious. I’ve ADded minced garlic to the AVOCADO mix. The toast and egg complimented the creamy AVOCADAo.

  9. Loved the addition of cilantro you suggested. I sprInkle mine with Pop zest’s Olive Oil snd herb nutritionAl yeast seasoning for added b-vitamins & proteiN. Yummy 😋

  10. I love avocado toast. My recipe is avocado mashed I bowl with lemon juice, garlic POWER, onion flakes, hot pepper flakes, salt and pepper. Spread thick on toasted bread of MY choice. It’s delicious. I don’t like eggs so I omit those.

  11. Lime does not add a “salty taste”… It’s sour, slightly sweet. Completely different.

    1. SALTY, ROB? Maybe YOU HAVE TOO MUCH MARGARITA
      EXPERIENCE.

    1. What pickled vegetables do recommend I’m new and looking to try some thing new. Thanks in advance

  12. Mmmmmmmmm…so delicious!
Made it for breakfast this morning…will definitely make again

  13. Can you make the spread ahead of time then reuse it for a few mornings during the week?

    1. You can but the avocado will brown at the very top. You can try covering it tightly with a thin layer of plastic wrap. I would suggest making it fresh daily.

    2. I’ve found that if you cover the remaining avocado half with lemon juice ( and more is better than less) then wrap it in Saran Wrap) and refrigerate it will keep until the next day. I wouldn’t go longer than that. If there is a tiny bit of brown on it, I just scrape it off. It’s good on a bagel, too. And try it with some parmesan cheese, as well. I’ll be trying some of these other suggestions that sound so good, too.

      1. Also, saving the half with the pit still inside and not removing it helps it keep in the fridge without browning as well.

  14. I made this yesterday for brunch and it was so delicious. I sauteed fresh, herbal seasoned mushrooms and topped them with it. It was heavenly! I would have to keep avocados out of my house to avoid eating this everyday. Loved it!! Thanks for the recipe!

  15. I have high blood pressure. Is this too much salt intake?

    1. I would adjust the salt and pepper to taste or omit the salt all together because the lime adds a salty taste.

    2. No its not, avacoda is fine but dont have any extra salt and maybe dont add garlic🤗

    3. I have high blood pressure and the nastiness on this simple offering of various recipes has shot mine to the moon! What is wrong with you? And you do know who you are….

      1. Wow, holy crap!! Is all this nastiness because we’ve pretty much been living without “normal companionship” due to Covid? Last thing I expected coming on a recipe site!
I came here to see what variations I can try. I was at a friend’s the other morning and she asked if I was hungry and did I like Avacado toast. She was floored when I responded that I’ve never tried it. Her way of making it was on rye bread, lime and a wee bit of S&P then after she put the avacado on the toast she sprinkled some toasted sesame seeds and poppy seeds. Was very delish. I usually end up skipping breakfast, but I got the stuff to make it at the store today, can’t wait for breakfast tomorrow morning!

  16. I did it yesterday !!
    So delicious 😉
    Keep up the good work

  17. In Delhi Can u tell from where I can buy avocado .
    Thanks

    1. Hi Neelam, I’ve never been to Delhi so I can’t really tell you where to purchase the avocados from or if they are even sold there, but I suggest you check your local fruit market. Best of luck!!

      1. I think it was a joke. India di not prOduce avaCado or import.

      2. I think it was a joke. India di not prOduce avaCado or import.

    2. It’s easily available in local markets. Ask for butterfruit. If not the high end grocery stores definitely have it stocked up.

  18. How is this only 242 calories when an avocado is about 234 calories alone?

    1. The 242 calories are per serving. This recipe makes 2 servings.

  19. I love avocado toasts so much and it’s so easy and fast to make. It’s the perfect appetizer for your guests. Head over to my blog and check my last post about my recipes 🙂 http://www.madamesociety.com
