Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line the muffin pan with cupcake liners and keep it aside.
In a medium bowl combine the dry ingredients together; flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a large bowl combine the wet ingredients; whisk the egg and sugar until light. Add in the vanilla and buttermilk whisk until combined.
