Crispy Bang Bang shrimp is deep-fried and then tossed in a creamy Sweet & Spicy chili sauce. This delicious shrimp makes a flavorful appetizer or snack with a kick!

What Is Bang Bang Shrimp?

Bang Bang Shrimp consists of large shrimp coated in cornstarch and seasonings and then covered in a spicy sauce. It is a great appetizer to serve before the main course meal. However, you can have this shrimp as the main course when serving it with other side dishes.

How Do You Make Bang Bang Shrimp?

If you want to make Bang Bang Shrimp, you will need to combine flour with cornstarch, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix these ingredients for at least a minute. In the meantime, crack an egg over a small bowl, whisk it, and dip your shrimp into it.

After dipping the shrimp into the egg, immediately put the shrimp in the cornstarch, coating it on both sides. You will need to fry the shrimp in oil for about a minute on each side. Do not remove the shrimp until they are golden brown on both sides.

After preparing your shrimp, you will need to make the sauce that completes this dish. Mix ½ cup mayo with two tablespoons of sriracha, one tablespoon of sweet chili sauce, and ½ teaspoon each of garlic powder, onion powder, and chili flakes.

Add your shrimp to the bowl with the sauce and toss to ensure each piece gets covered.

Once you coat the shrimp with the sauce, you will have your Bang Bang Shrimp ready to serve.

Can You Freeze Bang Bang Shrimp?

You can freeze Bang Bang Shrimp. If you have leftovers, you might want to save them for later. You can put the shrimp in a food storage bag or food storage container with a lid and place them in your freezer. Be sure to eat the shrimp within three months of freezing them.

What to Serve With the Bang Bang Shrimp

Bang Bang Shrimp works as a tasty appetizer, but you can serve it with additional sides to turn it into a fulfilling meal to eat for lunch or dinner. The shrimp goes great over traditional pasta. You can choose any pasta that you personally prefer, boiling it, draining it, and adding a bit of butter to it.

Once you prepare your pasta, you can serve it in a bowl or on a plate with the shrimp on top. If you do not want pasta, the shrimp goes great with white rice or fried rice. You can make different variations of rice, including cauliflower fried rice for a low carb option. The dish will also go great with a side of seasoned, roasted broccoli.

Other Tasty Bang Bang Meals to Make

Along with preparing the Bang Bang Shrimp, you can use this recipe to create other similar meals. If you do not have shrimp available, you may want to use pieces of chicken breast or tofu. You can coat these foods in the cornstarch mixture before frying and adding the Bang Bang sauce to it.

  1. This was delicious! I was able to switch out the breading ingredients to make it GF and it still worked out great! I didn’t have chili flakes but the sauce was still perfect!
