Chicken breasts stuffed with a creamy spinach, parmesan, mozzarella, and cream cheese filling and pan seared to perfection. The result is tender cooked chicken filled with a gooey trio of cheese that will melt in your mouth. Ever since I attempted the keto diet, I’ve been on the lookout for no carb recipes that are filling and packed full of protein. Although I’m not strictly following the keto diet because carbs always seem to find a way onto my plate, I feel so much better eating low-carb. I’ve lost a couple of pounds over the last few weeks so that’s a huge plus for me.
If you are on a low-carb or keto diet, trying to lose weight, or just want a healthy protein packed dinner, you’re going to love this cream cheese and spinach stuffed chicken. The chicken is not breaded and cooked in just a little bit of olive oil. This cooking method gives the chicken a nice and crispy crust without adding anything extra. The filling is a mixture of cream cheese (use low-fat if needed), parmesan, mozzarella, and spinach. You can use fresh or frozen spinach but I recommend fresh spinach that has bee thinly sliced. This is a great way to get a few servings of spinach because the spinach melts right into the filling and is hardly noticeable.
Watch how to make the recipe here:
Cream Cheese Spinach Stuffed Chicken (Low-carb, Keto)
- 4 4 oz chicken breasts
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- For the filling:
- 2 cups fresh spinach chopped or 10-ounce package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
- 4 oz cream cheese at room temp
- 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- salt to taste
- To Make filling:In a medium bowl, combine spinach, cream cheese, parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, garlic, and salt + pepper until fully combined.
- To Butterfly your chicken breasts: lay them flat on a sturdy surface. Place one hand on top to hold it in place and then slice 3/4 of the way through the chicken breast (be careful not to slice all the way through).
- To Stuff the Chicken: Season the outside of the chicken with chili powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Spoon 1/4 of cheese mixture into the middle of the cut chicken breasts and fold the chicken so the cream cheese is sealed inside. Use toothpicks to secure chicken if desired.
- To Cook: Heat a non-stick skillet on medium high and add 1 tablespoon olive oil. Cook the chicken, covering the pan with a lid, for about 9-10 minutes per side or until the chicken is cooked through.
Its a keeper

Made this tonight in my air fryer! Turned out great. Even hubby liked it, spinach and all!
Did you use the canned grated Parmesan? Or fresh?
Can these be grilled?

Ok, its Valentines day 2021…I’m making this for my hubby and me. I’m an ok cook so I think I can do this. Thank you for the recipe, I wanted an alternative to stuffed pork and this seems perfect!
very easy to make but looks like it took a lot of work & it tastes SO yummy. I added chopped artichoke & heart of palms as well. I plan to change up the stuffing ingredients to make other varieties. I used to flatten & roll chicken when I stuffed it (cordon bleu) but this was so much easier & cooked quicker. Definitely a keeper.

I’m not great in the kitchen but I was able to make this and my husband really enjoyed it. I cut the chicken wrong so some of it leaked out but I put it in the oven and it came out perfect. Thanks for sharing! I’m excited to make again soon.
Please advise if the minced garlic in the Cream Cheese Spinach Stuffed Chicken (Low-carb, Keto) recipe is dry minced garlic or fresh garlic.
It is fresh garlic!
Tasty good. Would od been better and easier if the chicken was pounded thinner

I would prefer to bake these, how long at what temperature would I use?
I followed the recipe a little. I added jalapeños to the mixture and stuffed 3 short stalks of asparagus inside with the mixture and pinned it down with tooth picks. Hoping it turns out well. I took the remaining asparagus tips, chopped them up and added more cream cheese and cheeses to the left over mixture to make a hot dip. I will follow up. I can’t wait to try it.

I prepared this recipe and it was very tasty
So happy you enjoyed it <3
Delicious as the recipe is written! My chicken breasts were too thick so I finished them in the oven to get to 165° inside. Thanks
So delicious! I made homemade italian seasoning. It tasted fresher. I also chopped up portabello mushrooms and yellow onion and added it to the cheese mixture. Yom! We will be having this again!
How many carbs is it?

THIS LOOKS DELICIOUS! sIMPLE AND EASY TO MAKE BUt maximum flavour! i Tend to stock up on vegetables when cooking chicken, but this looks really filling. one for the weekend! fortunately always have a good stock of cream cheese! sim x
OMG make this recipe!! I am a newb when it Comes to cooking but this recipe is so easy, yummy, AND keto like what more could you ask for?? The changes I made were:
– I seasoned breast with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, olive oil, paprika and red chili powder (I like to add as much flavour as I can LOL)
-in the spinach mix I added some crushed chili flakes (TRUST ME, DO THIS)
-and instead of frying it fully, I fried it for a few mins on each side then I baked it in the toaster oven covered with foil for 25 min (just because my chicken breast was on the larger side so I wanted to make sure it was fully cooked)
It turned out soooo juicy and good, just did one chicken breast as a trial run and I will definitely make more. It took me 30 minutes to prep so if you’re a college student like me this is such an easy recipe and it’s so quick with minimal clean up. My favourite restaurant makes a mean stuffed chicken breast and this was SO MUCH BETTER! Have this with a nice side salad and you have yourself a delicious and healthy dinner!
Thanks for this! I didnt have cream cheese so I used plain greek yogurt. It turned out perfectly and the seasoning for the chicken also went with broccoli perfectly
I was wondering if I could replace the spinach with broccoli.
I have a broccoli version here: https://gimmedelicious.com/cheesy-broccoli-stuffed-chicken

In just had to post and say thanks for sharing this delicious easy recipie!! It was a hit with my entire family. My teens loved it and even went back for another SERVING. Only thing I did different was season and BROWn the chicken on each side, layered a bag of spinach in casserole dish, drizzled with olive oil. Then I placed chicken on bed Of Spinach and stuffed with filling. The remaining filling I mixed the juices from skillet I browned chicken in and drizzled it between the meat and on top of bed of spinach. It baked well all together and we had an additional healthy serving of creamy spinach!! Will surely add this dish into my meal rotation.
Thanks for the tips and feedback! 🙂
These were delicious and i loved how easy it came together!
Turned out great, nice flavor I added some mushrooms to the pan while cooking and half and half and made a gravy to serve with. and dinner for two nights. added some crushed red peppers and added a little bite. works great in cast iron pan

Can I put in the oven
Shay West-Terry says
Hi, I did bake in oven because the chicken breast were so thick. I did season and brown in skillet to get the crust first, then I stuffed and baked in casserole dish. About 30 min on 350 degrees.
This chicken recipe was delicious! I’m not great in the kitchen but This was so easy to put together. The flavors are fantastic and was just as good the next day for lunch. I Will definitely make this again.

I tried this reciPe over the weekend and it was so delicious, thank you for sharing 🙂
Made these last night and liked them. Will make again. thanks!
Not all low carb diets are Keto!
In fact, to make it a true keto, you probably want to use full fat everything and maybe even add some bacon 🙂
I added bacon, it was delicious 🙂
Awesome recipe…it was a hit with my kids and grandkids!

Delicious!! Will definitely add this to my favorite easy and most yummy recipe file. Might add some sun-dried tomatoes next time just to give a little zip. Perfect as is, though. Thanks!
Very easy, super delicious, and only 3 Grams of carbs!!! Will be making this again!
Thanks for the 5 stars! Glad you enjoyed it! <3
Do you think i can do it in with the aIr fryer?
I haven’t tried these chicken breasts in the air-fryer so I honestly can’t recommend it.

How Is protein only 3 g chicken is Way more Then that alone
Thanks for pointing that out Marsha! It’s 30g of protein per 4 oz of chicken breasts. I’ve updated the post to reflect the correct amount.
Pam Voitik says
You need to recheck your calories. There is at least 180 in one 4 oz chicken breast alone without the cheeses.
Yes, there was an issue with the calorie counter and we’ve updated it with the correct macros!

wow. lovely. so delicious. i got so many compliments and i will certainly cook this again!! it’s easy. thanks so much.
This Is great. Even If filling runs out of the chicken while cOoking it doesn’t mAtTEr- it nicely scoops up when removing the chicken frOm the skillet. Toothpicks are very helpful. I find 8 minutes cooking each side Is plentY. The kitchen smells heavenly when cooking….
Um. I’m not sure your nutrition information is correct for this. It says one serving has 3 grams of protein, and just a chicken breast with no cheese or anything has at least ten times that amount. Might want to revise your chart.
made this tonight, so
delicious!! And the sauce it Made from searing amd cooking in the pan was so yummy drisSled over the sliced chicken. Will definiTely make agAin!
Hey! I just had a question regarding the calories. It says that one chicken stuffed is 121 calories? Is that a 100% certain? Because i am currently counting all my calories and want to make sure its accurate 🙂

Any nutritional information for this RECIPE?
Yes, I updated the post to reflect the macros. The nutritional info box should be found right under the recipe instructions.
This was delicious, Although next time i’ll only use half the spinach the recipe Calls for. It was very good, just a little too much stuffing for the size of my chicken breasts.
Becky Leavitt says
I used a spinach and kale mix. Turned out great. Would make again.
I did 1 cup of spinach so I could hide it better, accidentally cut through my chicken instead of butter flying 2 of them, and all of my family loves it. Even the 4yr old who hates everything I put in the chicken when cooked, and the hubby who hates spinach.
Sweet Baby jesus! tHIS IS AMAZING! LOVED IT.
