Chicken cooked in a creamy garlic parmesan and sun-dried tomato sauce all in one pan in under 30 minutes. Serve with zucchini noodles, veggies or a salad for a low-carb protein packed lunch or dinner!
A few years ago I shared my favorite garlic parmesan chicken and today I’m sharing this sun-dried tomato version of it. Sun-dried tomato, garlic, and parmesan make the BEST cream sauce and with the addition of skillet grilled chicken, you’ve got yourself a dish that is to die for!
The trick to making this chicken super flavorful is using lots of garlic. I usually opt in for at least 3-4 cloves but if you’re not a fan of garlic I suggest using at least 2 cloves. For the base, I like to use heavy cream (great keto option) but half & half or substituting half the heavy cream with chicken broth or water will also work. I also like to add in a cup or two or baby spinach to the sauce for some added color and texture but that’s completely optional.
To serve: You can add 2-3 cups of cooked pasta into the saucepan and mix it through with the sauce for a complete “one pan” meal or serve the chicken on top of the pasta.
For low carb or keto: Steam zucchini noodles in the microwave for 2 minutes on high and serve the chicken on the zucchini noodles. You can also serve the chicken with a side of steamed vegetables or greens.

Creamy Sun-dried Tomato Chicken
- 4-6 (about 6 oz) boneless skinless chicken breasts pounded thin
- Salt and pepper
- 2 tablespoons Butter or olive oil
- 3-4 cloves garlic chopped
- 1-2 cups chopped spinach optional
- 1 cup heavy/whipping cream see note for lighter option*
- 1/4 cup oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes chopped
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese grated
- Pound the chicken thin using a rolling pin or cut horizontally in half to about ½ inch thickness and season with salt and pepper.
- Melt 1 tablespoon butter or olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat, and add chicken and sear on both sides for 4-5 minutes on each side. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
- Reduce the heat and remaining 1 tablespoon butter to the same pan. Add garlic and saute for 30 seconds or until garlic begins to brown; Add sundried tomatoes, spinach, heavy cream, parmesan cheese, and mix through.
- Return chicken to the pan and simmer for another minute and remove from heat. Serve immediately with pasta, zucchini noodles, steamed vegetables, salad or rice.
I have made this recipe several times and it is always a huge hit. I would like to make a non-dairy version for a friend. Do you have any suggestions?
use half coconut cream (from jar or can), and half coconut milk for a dairy free version.
So much flavor!! This recipe tasted like a restaurant meal. I’m making this again!!!
I’ve made a lot of meals throughout the years for my parents: grilled, baked, stove-top. My mom said that this was the best meal she has ever had!!!
Made today. Added a large zucchini shredded into zoodles after the garlic and before the tomatoes, spinach and cream. Garlic powder at the end…one pot meal. Delightfully delicious.

The facts need to be accurate. How much is a serving? No one ever puts that. ie : 1 cup, or 1 – 6oz chicken and 1/4 cup of sauce??????? What? also Nutrition facts. Not accurate.
This recipe is delicious, thank you! However, how could one serving possibly have only 4 g of protein? One serving has at least six ounces of chicken, which has 52.6 g of protein! And that’s only the chicken. Can you please revise your nutritional info, or tell me why it’s only 4 g?
Thanks for pointing that out! Just updated it to reflect exactly 6 oz chicken breast per serving.
Made this today but used bone-in chicken thighs (which I cooked first then added to sauce at the end). Added peas, but otherwise pretty much stayed to the instructions….and it was AMAZING!!!!
We just finished eating this for dinner. Wow! This recipe is so packed with flavor. My family says “It’s a keeper!” Thank you!
That’s great to hear, Janine!
Very good we had breaded eggplant with it and the sauce was divine over the eggplant. I also used some smoked sundried tomatoes and deglazed the pan with a little white wine and chicken stock, then added the cream and spinach.
Yum, thanks for the feedback!
Loved it. I used fresh basil from my garden in place of spinach. It was excellent. Hubby loved it too.
Yum, that sounds delicious 🙂
Omg, this was amazing!! My first time making creamy sauce and with this instructions it was absolutely delicious!!! Thanks so much for so good recipe!
7/15/20 This was good. Only change I made was using 2% milk thickened with corn starch. Used 4+ cloves of garlic and 2 c. Spinach. Thank you for recipe.

Made this today except substituted artichokes for spinach. Otherwise followed exactly and it was a hit. Delicious!!!
I thought the recipe was easy to follow and very delicious. Will make again. Thank you.
This is a fabulous recipe!!! So glad I tried it! I’ll make it many more times! The whole family loved it
Don’t know why but my chicken came out very bland tasting
I used half and half instead of heavy cream, followed the rest of the recipe as it was.
Any suggestions or thoughts on why ?
Was disappointed looked really good

I used instead of butter, and a little olive oil and used heavy cream instead if half and half.it was so creamy and super flavorful! Best chicken I have ever had, hands down!
This was easy and so delicious. My husband ate 2 helpings.
Hi Christine, I noticed the recipe called for salt and pepper. I used salt and pepper to taste. Since I know how much salt and pepper my family is accustomed to, I used that amount. I didn’t find my chicken to be bland. Hope that helps.
I seasoned my chicken with garlic salt and pepper the night before so it can have flavor. Did not want to just rely on the cream sauce.
This was yummo! I used 2/3C 2% milk & 1/3 C Olive oil Instead of heavy cream. Worked greaT! I also went heavy oN the garlic And spinach, and added chopped cArrots and A red pepper. So good! 🙂

This was a fast and easy recipe. I used chicken tenders to avoid the pounding. I probably doubled the garlic, as I usually do in any recipe. Used pre-washed baby spinach and chopped it pretty good. Used half and half instead of the heavy cream just because I had it on hand and didn’t want it to expire. And then added the 1/4 cup of good chardonnay that I was drinking as I made the recipe. Oh, and threw in leftover pre-cooked pasta from last night’s dinner. yum!
i had some heavy whipping cream to use up and came across this recipe. it took me about 50 minutes to make including prep. but it was very simple and in one pan which i love. i added more garlic, tomatos, and spinach cause i wanted more veggies but it was sooo yummy
Thanks for the feedback and 5 star review, Amanda! <3

I had a jar of sundried tomatoes I wanted to use so I tried your recipe. I DIDN’T have heavy whipping cream so I SUBSTITUTED alfredo sauce from a jar for the cereal and parmesan. Turned out great, everybody loved it!
Good thinking! 😉

Thanks for the nutritional content – very helpful.
I didn’t have spinach, so I used a bag of power greens (kale, spinach, and baby chard and it was delicious. I would double or triple on the greens if you like veggies.

What is the nutritional information? How many net carbs?
I just added the nutritional info! It should be under the recipe box 🙂
I am looking forward to making this tonight! I think the grams of protein you posted May be off. A 6oz chicken breast has about 35grams of protien.
According to NCCDB, a 6-oz skinless chicken breast has 52.6 g of protein.

Is the nutritional info just for the sauce?

This is so delicious!!
when do you add the 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese?
We loved this recipe, but I made it without the cheese because I wasn’t sure when to add it. we ate this over broccoli, delicious!
Thanks for the 5 stars! I’m glad you enjoyed the recipe even without the parmesan cheese, Nikki. The parmesan cheese is added with the spinach and heavy cream!
