Homemade Strawberry Sauce Saturday mornings are the best! You get to sleep in and snuggle in bed, especially during this cold weather.  Lately my saturday mornings consist of the hubby and I watching Friends re-runs while the girls watch re-runs of Barney on Netflix.  Yea the shows are so outdated but you gotta admit, they are pretty damn good.

After spending the first two hours of my saturday in bed, I like whip up something really nice. Once it’s past 11 it’s not so much breakfast anymore, it’s more like brunch so I try to combine savory and sweet elements into brunch dishes and top them off with chocolate, syrups or my new favorite obsession strawberry sauce.

This syrup is soooo good, fresh and super easy to make! It’s seriously beats any supermarket jam and tastes 1000x better. Plus, it only requires 3 ingredients, the strawberries, a few tablespoons of sugar and vanilla. Within 20 minutes you’re done and left with nice and thick syrup you can use on waffles, pancakes, ice-cream, cakes, you name it. I will be posting a few recipes within the next few weeks that call for this syrup so please don’t forget to keep an eye out for that!

I hope you give this recipe a try and enjoy it as much as we do. Have a great weekend folks! 🙂

Homemade Strawberry Sauce

To make the sauce thick and chunkier whisk every few minutes while the strawberries are cooking. For a thin and runny sauce, add 1/4 cup water and simmer for 15 minutes then pour mixture into a blender or use an immersion blender to whisk it all up in the pot.

  1. I made this sauce for a cheesecake and it’s delicious! I didn’t add any water, just pureed in the food processor after it cooled for a few minutes. Chilled it in the fridge and served it over the cheesecake the next day. Divine!

  2. OK, so it looks good. Did anyone actually try to make it? Just wondering, I am looking for a good strawberry sauce to spread over my strawberry/lemon cheescakes.
