Ingredients needed
This blackened chicken sliders recipe requires simple ingredients for 4 main components: the chicken, the butter topping, sauce, and assembly. Here’s everything you’ll need:
- Blackened chicken: You can use a premade seasoning, but if you want to kick things up a notch, use our homemade blackened seasoning Mix.
- Garlic butter topping: The buns are toasted with a mix of melted butter, minced garlic, and fresh parsley.
- Spicy mayo sauce: The sauce is a delicious blend of mayo, hot sauce, dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt & pepper.
- For assembly: You can really use any favorite sandwich toppings for these sliders. We love cheese, shredded lettuce, red onion, and dill pickle slices.
How to make this recipe
- Marinate the chicken: In a bowl or ziplock bag, combine the chicken, oil, and blackened seasoning. Set aside to marinate while you prep the rest of the ingredients for the sliders.
- Make the sauce & butter topping: Whisk all the ingredients for the sauce in a small bowl. In another small bowl whisk together the melted butter, garlic, and parsley. Line a baking sheet with foil and cut the sliders in half. Place sliders on the baking sheet, with the top side up; Set Aside.
- Cook chicken: Heat a large pan over medium-high heat and add the chicken to the pan. Cook on high for 3-4 minutes per side or until charred and cooked through.
- Toast buns: While the chicken is cooking, toast the buns. Turn on the oven to broil and spread the butter mixture over the top of the buns (leaving the bottoms bare). Broil for 2 minutes or until the buns are lightly golden and crispy.
- Assemble: Evenly distribute the chicken tenders on the buns, top with 6 slices or cheese, shredded lettuce, onion, pickles, and the prepared sauce. Cover with the top buns and break into small sliders. Enjoy immediately!
Tips & variations
- Rolls: King’s Hawaiian slider rolls are recommended for the best flavor, but dinner rolls would work great too!
- Cheese: Use any favorite cheese! We love cheddar, mozzarella, provolone, or pepper jack.
- Make ahead: To get a head start on dinner, the blackened seasoning mix and the spicy mayonnaise can be made a few days in advance of serving.
- Serving size: When planning how many sliders to make, if you’ll be serving for dinner, plan for each person to eat 2-4 mini sandwiches. However, if these will be served as party food with a spread of other finger foods, plan for 1 per person.
Storing leftovers
While these little sandwiches are best served just out of the oven, they also work great for a quick and easy lunch!
- Storing: Store leftover sliders in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
- Reheating: The best way to reheat leftover sliders is in the oven, so they crisp up and aren’t soggy. Place in the oven for 15-20 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Or try them in the air fryer for about 4 minutes at 350 degrees F.

What to serve with blackened chicken sliders?
These are great for lunch, dinner, or as an appetizer! Depending on how and when you are serving them, there are a variety of things to serve with these chicken sliders. We’ve enjoyed them with potato salad, vegetables, chips, soup, and french fries.
Why are my sliders soggy?
It’s important to toast the slider buns immediately after they are brushed with the butter mixture or they may absorb the melted butter and become soggy.
