30 Minute Cheeseburger Sliders are a delicious solution for an easy dinner. They also make the perfect party food, and will be a hit with any crowd. Add these to your game day menu!

Cheeseburger Sliders are my favorite way to feed a large group. They have all of the delicious flavor of cheeseburgers in perfectly portioned mini sandwiches. They are also quick to make, but can feed a dozen people.

These cheeseburger sliders are extra cheesy, beefy and so incredibly tasty. It’s the perfect way to enjoy burgers without having to fire up the grill!

Ingredients needed

This cheeseburger sliders recipe is made with simple burger ingredients. They all come together to make an amazing dish your whole family will love! Here’s everything you’ll need:

  • Ground beef: We like to use lean ground beef, so these aren’t overly greasy.
  • Oil: Use any preferred oil for browning the ground beef and sautéing the onion.
  • Onion: A small amount of onion is sautéed with the beef to give it wonderful savory flavor.
  • Seasonings: A mix of garlic powder, salt and pepper is combined with the beef for extra flavor.
  • Condiments: Mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard are stirred into the beef mixture for that classic hamburger taste.
  • Cheddar cheese: You’ll need 6 slices of cheddar cheese to fully cover the rolls.
  • Dinner rolls: We recommend using Hawaiian roll slider buns. They stay attached making them easy to work with, and they have a subtle sweetness that pairs great with the savory filling. You can use any favorite rolls or slider buns, though.
  • Pickle slices: If you like dill pickles on your burgers, add one or two on each slider.
  • Butter & sesame seeds: The finishing touch is to brush melted butter over the tops of the rolls and sprinkle sesame seeds over each roll.

How to make this recipe

Cheeseburger sliders are so easy to assemble. Simply brown your meat with onion, add the condiments, layer the mixture onto sliced rolls, and brush melted butter on top with a sprinkle of sesame seeds, if you’d like. Pop them in the oven, and serve them up hot!

  1. Cook the beef & onion: Preheat oven to 350˚F. Place a large skillet over medium/high heat. Add 1 teaspoon oil and swirl to coat the pan. Add the ground beef, onion, and spices. Sauté, breaking up the beef, and cook until just browned through, about 4-5 minutes.
  1. Add the condiments: Turn off the heat and drain excess fat, if any, with a spoon or by tilting the pan. Stir in the mayo, ketchup, and mustard.
  1. Slider rolls: Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with foil and coat lightly with nonstick spray, oil, or butter. Slice the slider rolls in half, and place the bottoms evenly into the prepared pan.
  1. Assemble sliders: Spread the ground beef mixture evenly over the buns and top with the sliced cheese. Top each with a pickle slice. Place the slider roll tops on top, and press down slightly. Brush the top with butter and sprinkle the top with sesame seeds (if desired).
  1. Bake: Place in the oven, uncovered, and bake for 15 minutes, or until cheese is melted. Cover with foil until ready to serve.

Expert tips

  • Drain the beef: If you notice that there is excess fat after browning the meat, be sure to drain this well. You can transfer the meat to a colander and then back to the pan, or tilt the pan using a lid to keep the meat from falling out. To much liquid could cause the buns to become soggy.
  • Line the dish: For easy cleanup, we recommend lining the baking dish with foil. If you don’t have foil, simply spray it with nonstick spray.
  • Sprinkling the sesame seeds: If you’re adding the sesame seeds, be sure to sprinkle them on top just after you brush on the butter, so they will adhere to the buns.
  • Bake uncovered: There is no need to cover the dish before baking. You want the tops of the rolls to get nice and golden. And covering the dish could make them a bit soggy.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between a slider and a sandwich?

A slider is a small sandwich, served on a slider bun or dinner roll. The term is typically used to describe small hamburgers, but can also be used to refer to any small sandwich served on a slider roll.

How many cheeseburger sliders per person?

If you’re trying to plan for a weeknight dinner or want to make sure you have enough food to go around on game day, we recommend planning on 3 mini cheeseburgers per adult. Kids would probably eat 1 to 2, and you will also want to think about the other food you’re serving. If you have plenty of heavy appetizers, you could probably get by with 1 per person. However, it’s best to make more than you think you will need.

Variations

We really love these served as-is, but here are some fun ideas, if you’d like to change them up!

  • Different toppings: Try adding extra toppings such as tomatoes or cooked bacon.
  • Cheese: Use any favorite cheese! Cheddar is classic, but other options like pepper jack or American would be very tasty.
  • Use chicken or turkey: Any ground meat will work fine in this recipe. Use your preferred meat.

Serving suggestions

Besides how delicious cheeseburger sliders taste and how easy they are to make, we love that they are so versatile! Serve them as an addition to your appetizer spread, or enjoy them as an entree with sides like French fries, potato wedges, crispy zucchini chips or baked mac and cheese!

Storage recommendations

  • Leftovers: Store any leftover sliders in an airtight container, or covered tightly in aluminum foil or plastic wrap for up to 4 days. Reheat in a 350°F oven for about 15 minutes, or until warmed through.
  • Freezing: Store these in the freezer, individually wrapped in plastic wrap and then wrapped in aluminum foil, and place in a freezer bag for up to 3 months. Let thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
