If you’ve ever been to The Cheesecake Factory and ordered their Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps, then you know exactly how amazing the flavors of this dish are.
And, if this recipe can be boasted about for a bit, it’s literally just as good as what you would pay top dollar for.
The sauce is the secret ingredient and star of the show, so make sure that you don’t leave it out. (in fact – make a little bit extra to drizzle and dip because it’s just that darn good!)
How to make Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps
After you gather the simple ingredients needed, it’s time to get started! Don’t fret – this lettuce wrap recipe is fast and simple to make.
Start by mixing all the sauce ingredients together and setting aside.
Heat the olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the ginger, garlic, and white parts of the green onions. Cook the mixture until you can start to smell it, which will take about 1 minute.
Add the chicken to the mixture and cook for 4-5 minutes. The chicken should be almost cooked all the way, but not quite. Add the bell pepper and sauce. Cook the mixture for 3-4 minutes, until the sauce is thick and the chicken is fully cooked.
Serve by adding 1/4 cup of the mixture into a lettuce leaf. Add scallions and yum yum sauce on top.
How do I verify that the chicken is cooked all the way?
Anytime that you are cooking chicken, it’s extremely important that you make sure that the chicken is cooked all the way through.
The best way to do this is by using a meat thermometer. Insert the tip of the thermometer into the thickest part of the chicken, and then verify the reading.
For chicken to be considered cooked, the reading should be at least 165 degrees. If it’s not, that is your indication that the chicken needs more time.
What to serve with Lettuce Chicken Wraps
While these easy lettuce wraps are a meal in themselves, there are always other delicious foods that you can pair with them.
One of the most popular options would be brown rice or white rice – or you can even pair cauliflower rice if you’re sticking to a low carb diet.
For topping, I like to top them with my creamy Yum Yum Sauce. It adds the perfect creamy sweet & Spicy flavor and elevates the dish!
How to store leftovers
If you have leftovers, make sure that you store the chicken mixture and the lettuce separately. You can easily build that flavor once you reheat and serve, but storing them together will make the lettuce soggy.
You don’t want soggy lettuce because the wraps are supposed to be crispy!
Can I add other ingredients to this low carb lettuce wrap recipe?
That’s totally up to you! If you want to change the flavor and ingredients, you can. One of the easiest foods to add is more vegetables.
You can dice mushrooms, add more onions, and even add some diced carrots into the mix.
If you want to use a different type of meat than chicken, ground beef is a great option as well. Just be sure that you drain off any excess grease that you might cook out of the meat before serving.
