What’s in Creamy Cucumber Salad

The main ingredient in this salad is cucumber. For the cucumbers, long English cucumbers are best because of their texture and thin skin. You can easily swap out the cucumbers for any other type of cucumber just be sure to peel the skin.

The 2nd main component of this dish is a yogurt-based sauce made of Greek yogurt and mayonnaise. The yogurt can be replaced with sour cream if desired.

Lastly, red onions are a delicious flavor & crunch to the salad. They can be replaced with white onion if desired or left out altogether.

How to Make Creamy Cucumber Salad

To make this delicious creamy cucumber salad, begin by slicing the cucumbers into super thin slices. You can do this using a sharp kitchen knife or a mandoline slicer. The slicer can also be used to slice the onions into thin slices if desired.

Next, simply whisk together the ingredients for the sauce and toss in the cucumbers and sliced onion.

How to Store Creamy Cucumber Salad

Creamy cucumber salad can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the fridge to keep it fresh for later. This makes it great for BBQs, parties, or dinners. follow these simple steps to store the salad:

  1. Transfer the leftover salad into an airtight container with a lid. Before sealing the container, press a sheet of plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the salad.
  2. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days.
  3. When ready to serve again, give the salad a gentle stir to redistribute the dressing and flavors.

Remember, the texture of the cucumbers may soften slightly after being refrigerated, but the flavors should still be delicious!
