Take chicken salad to a new level with the addition of avocado. This naturally creamy chicken and avocado salad is healthy and contains no mayo or sour cream

Healthy Avocado Chicken Salad

Ever since I tried avocado in a grilled chicken sandwich, I can no longer have chicken without avocado. The creamy avocado compliments chicken so well and the addition of cilantro and lime make it a combo to die for. This creamy salad is great in sandwiches, wraps, or with a side of vegetables if you are on a diet.

Healthy Avocado Chicken Salad

I’ve added this salad to my healthy lunch rotation because the rotisserie chicken breasts are lean and a great source of protein, the avocado is packed full of nutrition and because no mayo or cream is added, you can enjoy the salad guilt-free.

Making this fresh and flavorful salad is as simple as combining avocado, shredded chicken, roasted corn and red onion. You can also add minced green onion, tomatoes, cucumber, or diced bacon. For the herbs, we used cilantro but dill or parsley also work very well too!

    1. That’s wonderful. I’m so glad to hear that!

  1. Shit – sweetcorn is unnecessary over powers everything

    1. Really Hannah? The addition of fresh summer corn was delicious, and no need for the rude comment…….it’s just cooking!

    2. Hannah, calm down; no need to be rude on a public post. If you can’t say something nice please keep it to yourself. Please learn to be a nicer human.

  2. Loved this salad, so easy to make, will be making again! Used parsley and limes, and made the chicken in the air fryer and then shredded it. Thank you!

  3. this is one of my favorite go to recipes for a healthy lunch. I’m wondering if I can freeze it because I just made a huge batch and would like to be able to eat it throughout the week or grab it out when I haven’t meal prepped. has anybody had any luck freezing?

  4. Loved it only added cherry tomatoes delicious 😋

    1. How does this do in the fridge for a few days with the avacado?

  5. HUGE success, and extremely easy. I made it so that I wouldn’t have to cook in these 118 degree Palm Spring days (I used leftover chicken). I followed the recipe pretty much, although I jacked the ingredients up a bit (2 tablespoons of cilantro? Not in MY house… closer to half a cup.), chilled it, and my wife dined on chicken salad and my son on cold corn tortilla tacos (I actually don’t eat chicken salad). It was so good and so easy that I’m making it again today for weekend snacking. The one deviation I made to the recipe was added a skosh of McCormick Salad Supreme seasoning… my wife thinks that Salad Supreme, like Windex, fixes everything.

  6. I used canned white chicken and it was delicious!!!

  7. Delicious! So simple yet so flavorful! A definite keeper!

  9. I made this with romaine lettuce and a balsamic dressing and it was perfect! The fam loved it <3

    1. I use canned chicken, and love it. That makes it quicker – just make sure you separate the chicken into flakes when you take it out of the can.

  10. This was absolutely amazing! My son helped me whip it up in no time at all and we devoured it for dinner. This will be in our rotation from now on. Thanks so very much for recipe.

  11. This looks fantastic. I could serve it with chips and my kids would devour it. I love how simple the dressing is. I have perfectly ripe AVOCADOS in the fridge right now. I am making this for dinner

  12. How many carbs does this have? I’m trying to find recipes for my dad but am unable to find the carb count.

  13. Haven’t made this yet but am planning to. I plugged the listed ingredients into myfitnesspal.com to come up with calorie count. It says 202 cals per 1 cup serving.

  14. Simply amazing! I made this for a party and everyone still talks about it. Now one of my go-to healthy recipes. i make it almost weekly!! thank you

  15. Was a little bland. So i added jalapeno, cumin, and garlic. Really kicked it up.

  16. Love this recipe! I grilled some boNeless chicken thighs, added the rest of the
ingredients, added a little cumin, and served it wrapped in Napa cabbage leaves. Yummy!

  17. i’M doing this for a school project what is the calories per serving? Or is there none?
    (Sorry for caps lock)

  18. Love it! I added black beans and boiled egg. And i also used differe spices. Will de make it again.

  19. Instead of rotisserie chicken, i cooked chicken tenderloins in 1/3 pkg of taco seasoning mix and shredded with my Pampered Chef CHOPPER as it cooked in the pan. To the AVOCADO i added Fresh minced garlic, black bEans, hot sauce, and cumin to the rest of the ingredients and omitted the olive oil. When the cHicken was cooled i mixed it in with the AVOCADO. I served it on corn tortilla chips. Mine was saucier than the photos shown.
    It was mmm mmm good.
