Chicken breasts cooked in a creamy garlic parmesan cream sauce. This quick and flavorful one skillet 20-minute dish is great on with pasta or a side of veggies!
Creamy Parmesan Garlic Chicken Garlic and parmesan are a match made in heaven. I’m addicted to garlic. I love the smell and flavor of garlic simmering in olive oil or butter. There really is no better aroma or flavor. Add parmesan to the fragrant garlic and you’ve got yourself a flavor combo that is out of this world.

This quick and tasty garlic and parmesan chicken is super easy to make so it’s great for busy weeknights when you just need to whip up something fast. It’s all made in one pan in under 20 minutes. The chicken is first cooked in olive oil and seasoned with just salt and pepper. After the chicken is cooked through, remove it from the pan and add some minced garlic to the same pan. Cook the garlic for no more than 30 seconds just to until it begins to turn golden.

The next step is adding the cream, Italian seasoning, and parmesan cheese. I used light cream but heavy cream will work too! If you’re a fan of spinach like we are, toss in a cup of chopped spinach at this point! Simmer the sauce for a few minutes then return the chicken to the pan. Enjoy this creamy chicken on pasta or with a side of veggies!

  2. Family loved this but I left out Italian seasoning by accident and chose to use half Asiago in place of Parmesan which gave it a fabulous punch. Will definitely make this again!

  3. Sounded good and read all of the great comments… itโ€™s not great, Italian seasoning over powered this dish, would have been better with salt, pepper, and garlic only.

  4. Phenomenal. So easy to make and so flavorful! A new favorite of mine. Thanks, Layla.

    1. Forgot to mention that I substituted canned coconut milk for the cream and served with rice. Delicious! Didnโ€™t taste like coconut at all.

  5. Not sure if I missed the nutritional information, what’s the calories and fat per serving?

  6. Fabulous dish. Made extra sauce for the rice I served with it. Can’t say enough about this dish. Everyone should try it. You won’t be sorry.

  7. Made this last night. It was really tasty! Too much Italian seasoning, next time I’ll cut it or not even use it.

  9. Made this tonight for my family! Including grandchildren! Oh my what a hit! Served with Jasmine rice and corn. Only thing left is the corn. They have already requested I make it again. Thanks a bunch

  10. Yessssss maโ€™am! So glad I found this recipe! Delicious!

  11. This was delicious! I did double the batch.
Instead of spinach I used Baby Bella mushrooms. I fried with the garlic in oil but added 2 tablespoons if butter. This recipe is a keeper for sure and so easy to make! I made spinach ricotta ravioli and the sauce was great on that!

  12. I was looking for simple, quick, easy and flavorful. And this is definitely it! It was a huge hit in my house. Will definitely be making it again. I made it with boneless chicken thighs, mushrooms and spinach with white rice! Yes! Thank you! It was awesome!!! I absolutely recommend this dish. Especially for big families! ๐Ÿ˜

  13. This was delicious! Made it with spinach, and I didnโ€™t have pasta so I made rice.

  14. Didnโ€™t substitute anything! Followed the recipe exactly. I just up the servings size to 8. It was sooo delicious! Highly recommend! We like extra sauce so thatโ€™s the only thing I will do differently next time, make extra sauce.

  15. Itโ€™s amazing how one recipe can be changed so many ways and remain so tasty. I used shrimp, canned coconut milk, goat cheese and threw in broccoli. Delish! Itโ€™s the basis for many different meals to come. A little dry white wine didnโ€™t hurt. By the way this is my first post. Wow!

  16. The sauce was BOMB I LOVED this dish๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  17. Love this recipe!!! I’ve made it several times and it’s always delicious. I was thinking about trying it in the crock pot tonight but not sure how it will turn out… any thoughts?

    1. I’ve actually only made this in the crockpot and several times. If you add spinach or anything just wait until the last five minutes or so. I also add chopped tomatoes at this time. Otherwise you can dump everything in the crockpot – I prefer to cook low for 6 hours but you can cook it on high instead. I also prefer to cut the chicken in bite size pieces beforehand.

  18. This was super easy and really delicious!!! Will definitely be one of our weeknight favorites.

    1. Easy and nice change for chicken if only I could
Eat pasta on keto it would have been bliss

  19. OMG…so delicious and keto friendly!! Will definitely make again.

  20. This was amazing! Husband and I both loved the sauce. Will make again.

  21. EXCELLENT! I was afraid there wouldn’t be enough sauce so I scrambled, made a roux with just 1 Tblsp of flour and a Tblsp of flour, threw in half a cup of chicken stock, and then proceeded with rest of the recipe. Served over egg noodles with roasted carrots on the side. Chicken turned out beautifully moist and there was just enough sauce to nicely coat the chicken and the noodles. LOVE this recipe! Thank you!

    1. I made it with strips of chicken breast. Had to adjust the cook time a little though. Delicious.

      1. This recipe is an immediate hit for my family, it’s super yummy and easy to prepare. Thank you for sharing your recipe with us and keep up with the good work.

  22. This recipe is a keeper. Delicious and took little effort. I made this tonight which the family really enjoyed.
To reduce some fat I substituted evaporated milk for the cream and therefore could enjoy the parmesan cheese with less guilt. I used 2 tsp of basil pesto and 1 tsp of dried oregano which worked out very well. The spinach is a must ingredient. Thanks for this great recipe!

  23. This was so simple to make and so delicious!! One of my favorite recipes Iโ€™ve found on Pinterest so far!! Only thing I did differently was bread the chicken ..and used more half and half than called for..maybe I like the sauce thinner. Served it over pasta ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ

  24. I made this tonight and my family loved it! It was simple and easy but packed an amazing flavor punch. Next time will double the sauce part of the recipe. Served over pasta shells. Delicious!!!

  25. I served mine with peas & carrots. It was very rich and filling. My mom and I loved it. I will more than likely try again with different veggies. Thanks!

  26. It was the best creamiest chicken I’d ever had.
Me and my friend made this at 2 am and it was definitely is my favorite late night snack.

  27. Made this tonight, and the whole family loved it! Lots of flavor! Will definitely be making this again.

  31. This was so easy and convenient. I was able to finish before picking up my eldest from volleyball practice. ๐Ÿ™‚ I used olive oil and butter to cook the chicken (used salt, pepper, and paprika to season), added chopped spinach to the sauce, and served with penne pasta.

  32. Made this tonight, my boyfriend and I loved it. Very simple recipe with almost no prep. Delicious!

  33. I made this tonight using pecorino Romano cheese, light cream and garlic. I also used both olive oil, and butter. Awesome recipe. To stay low carb I serve it over a bed of broccoli! Yummy.

    1. Thanks for taking the time to leave a review, Angela! Broccoli sounds like a delicious way to serve the chicken ๐Ÿ˜€

      1. I made this tonight and It was fabulous. My roomies even loved it. Can you tell me approximately how many calories thus has. I also sent my mom the recipe.
        Thank you

    2. Super easy, quick, and delicious. My family loved it. Great meal to make when you donโ€™t have much time. Will definitely add this to our recipe book.

  34. Yummy and super easy! I added some dry mushrooms and potatoes!

  35. Made it for my boyfriend and we both loved it. I also served it with rice and doubled the parmesan cheese. It was very good!

  36. FIRST, THE TIME MUST BE FROM HAVING EVERYTHING PREPPED AND READY. IN ANY EVENT, IT WAS GOOD, BUT WAY TOO MUCH ITALIAN SEASONING. I’LL CUT IN HALF FOR NEXT TIME. ALSO, VERY RICH, NEXT TIME I’LL USE CHICKEN STOCK INSTEAD OF THE CREAM. Good, and I will make it again.

  37. I served it with wild rice
LaRGE CAN RICE DRAINED & RINSED, (ALWAYS PERFECT AND HANDY)
ONION, CELERY & MUSHROOMS, DEGLAZED PAN WITH MARCELA WINE AND BUTTER, MIXED WITH RICE, SALT & PAPPER HEAT IN CASSEROLE WHILE COOKING CHICKEN IN SAME PAN.

DID NOT CHANGE OR ADD A SINGLE THING TO THIS RECIPE AND THE WOMAN I LOVE AND COOK FOR SOPPED UP EVERY DROP OF THIS SAUSE WITH A CRUSTY BREAD AND BEGGED FOR MORE.
ONLY CHANGE FOR NEXT TIME WILL BE TO DOUBLE THE RECIPE.

    1. Thanks for the detailed Feedback, Luke! So happy you enjoyed it ๐Ÿ™‚

  47. need more details with instructions it might be confusing for beginners who don’t know how to cook!

  48. I made this, I didnโ€™t have any light cream or half and half so I used chicken broth and a little cornstarch to thicken and it was really good.

  49. Can you cook this in a cast iron skillet?

  56. This dish was fantastic!! I made a little extr sauce and drizzled over some broccolI and was delcious. My husband said this is a definite keeper!

  57. I was looking for a simple but different recipe as I eat pretty clean… delicious. I purchase split chicken breasts from our local butcher and just cut them in quarters. I also added some baby peas. this is a keeper (garlic made all the difference and I used about 5 small cloves. I think this would be great for company

  58. This was Delicious! So easy to prepare too. I used heavy creamand didnt have onions but it was still great tasting. Only thing i was curious about was nutrition info.

  59. this came out great the only thing i put in was garlic and herb with black pepper but did as followed

  60. LOVE LOVE LOVE this recipe. I’VE MADE IT TWICE IN THE PAST 3 WEEKS. FIRST TIME WITH GARLIC MASHED POTATOES AND SALADS, AND LAST NIGHT WITH GARLIC MASHED POTATOES AND HONEY BALSAMIC ROASTED BRUSSELS SPROUTS. I will DEFINITELY Be trying more of your recipes.

  62. mmm this looks so yum ! definately having this for lunch. would say dinner but I can’t wait that long lol

  63. I.made this for dINNER TONIGHT AND IT’S REALLY GOOD. QUICK AND EASY! I cut my chicken.breasts in chunks since I was starting dinner kind of lateand needed them.to cook faster, then seasoned them with the italian seasoning, then cooked. Added fresh basil too. I served mine with pasta for my kids and zucchini noodles for myself and husband. I think.next time ill add the spinach

  64. I made this tonight for dinner and it was a hit with my husband and two picky teenagers. It says it serves four but I would recommend doubling the recipe if you have big eaters (or teenage boys)!

Thank you for a delicious recipe that I’ll make again and again.

  65. Everything about This looks incredible. I will definitely be going to the store tomorrow to get some cream so I can make this. One of my favorite smells is garlic cooking in butter. *drooling now*

  66. I’m wondering if the sauce taste close to an alfredo. If I made chicken alfredo and made this dish a few days later would it seem like I made the same dish twice in one week? Since the only thing I’m really missing in this recipe compared to my alfredo is cream cheese I’m worried it’ll be too similar.

  67. very GOOD, AND A QUICK, EASY DINNER! wILL MAKE THIS AGAIN AND AGAIN!

  68. the worps were great ..My daughter liked it espicially the taste of the chees with the cheken

      1. RUDE MUCH? Maybe this person has a learning disability, or maybe their fingers are broken. you don’t know their story so buzz off.

        1. This could be their second or third language as well.

How many languages does rude ass know?

      2. He or she maDe their point. NO one is perfect and normal people overlook things like this. Obsessed people whO think theyโ€™re perfect criticize.

  69. I put some sweet onions in with the garlic and then de-glazed my pan with some chardonnay before adding the half n half and it was a very good

  70. Made this tonight served over linguini. So, so good! Husband loved it too… we will make again.

  71. Is the parmesan cheese the kind from the can or freshly Grated?

  72. What would go with this dish? My husband and I are trying to figure out what can be served with it. We love it so much.

    1. I make it with garlic mash! Iโ€™m making it tonight actually again itโ€™s so delicious !

    2. 1…..I WOULD USE WHITE RICE with some chopped spinach mixed in with some roasted garlic (depending ON HOW MUCH GARLIC YOU USE IN MAIN DISH, ME PERSONALLY, I could NEVER USE TO MUCH GARLIC, LOVE IT!) SERVE OVER RICE. — or–

      2. Yuca/Yucca with roasted garlic and some Cilantro

  73. Made this dish as posted. It was very flavorful and chicken was tender and moist. Only problem I had was curdling and not enough sauce. Should heat be reduced before starting cream sauce?

    1. Yes, If the heat is really high it can curdle the cream.Next time lower it before adding the garlic and cream.

  74. I almost ruined this dish!! The chicken came out so nice and crispy pan seared but when I took it out and added the garlic and other ingredients when they mixed with the bits on the bottom of the pan it tasted so bad !! Luckily the ingredients were quick to throw together again after I washed out the pan. Iโ€™m so glad I didnโ€™t give up on this dish because it turned out amazing !! I didnโ€™t have any cream so I used milk with melted butter (as per my google search for a substitute) and added in some corn starch to the sauce to thicken it. Served with garlic mash and it was so good! Definitely a keeper but next Time Iโ€™ll wipe down the pan before adding the garlic and other ingredients !

    1. Good call to re-do the dish! sometimes if the pan is really hot the garlic burns and gives a bitter taste that is unpleasant. Next time, be sure to lower the heat before adding the garlic! ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. Does it matter how you mince the garlic? I mean what method? I recently read that how you do it changes how strong it is. I honestly DON’t really cook much And found it out when looking up HOw to mince garlic after seeing minced garlic was an ingredient. Sorry I DON’t know why this is in all caps lol

        1. minced or crushed garlic will both work well. I like to use a garlic press to crush the garlic because it does bring out more flavor but minced garlic is also great. Just be sure to mince them as fine as possible in order to extract more flavor.

        2. Garlic loses flavor as you cook it. if you want a strong garlic flavor you should add it near the end of the cooking TIME,

  75. This dish was so easy and quick to make. My husband and I loved it!! I served it over linguine. Next time Iโ€™ll add mushrooms. My husband said, โ€œThat recipe is a keeper!โ€

    1. yum, glad you and your husband enjoyed the dish, April! ๐Ÿ™‚

  76. Making this is sort of like a cross between how I make my “World Famous” White Chunky Chicken Chili and Alfredo Sauce.

  77. Hello just found your page! Love it! But what kind of cream do I use?

    1. Hey Ryan!

Iโ€™m making this dish as I type & I just used regular whipping cream.

  78. Hello! If I make pasta to go with this dish will there be enough sauce to spoon over it or would I need to make extra sauce?

    1. Hello! I just made this meal right now and I was also worried about that. I would definitely make some extra sauce. It was enough to cover my pasta, but it’s still on the dry side.

  79. I made this tonight as written with the exception of adding maybe up to 1/4 cup chicken stock. The chicken was moist and tender and the meal with extremely delicious. Thanks so much for this wonderful recipe. I’m keeping this one for future use many times over and have shared your recipe on Facebook so others can make and enjoy it.

    1. Yum! Potatoes and mushrooms sound like a great addition. Did you par-boil the potatoes first?
