Chicken breasts cooked in a creamy garlic parmesan cream sauce. This quick and flavorful one skillet 20-minute dish is great on with pasta or a side of veggies!
Creamy Parmesan Garlic Chicken Garlic and parmesan are a match made in heaven. I’m addicted to garlic. I love the smell and flavor of garlic simmering in olive oil or butter. There really is no better aroma or flavor. Add parmesan to the fragrant garlic and you’ve got yourself a flavor combo that is out of this world.

This quick and tasty garlic and parmesan chicken is super easy to make so it’s great for busy weeknights when you just need to whip up something fast. It’s all made in one pan in under 20 minutes. The chicken is first cooked in olive oil and seasoned with just salt and pepper. After the chicken is cooked through, remove it from the pan and add some minced garlic to the same pan. Cook the garlic for no more than 30 seconds just to until it begins to turn golden.

The next step is adding the cream, Italian seasoning, and parmesan cheese. I used light cream but heavy cream will work too! If you’re a fan of spinach like we are, toss in a cup of chopped spinach at this point! Simmer the sauce for a few minutes then return the chicken to the pan. Enjoy this creamy chicken on pasta or with a side of veggies!

  4. I made this tonight for dinner and it was a hit with my husband and two picky teenagers. It says it serves four but I would recommend doubling the recipe if you have big eaters (or teenage boys)!

Thank you for a delicious recipe that I’ll make again and again.

  5. Everything about This looks incredible. I will definitely be going to the store tomorrow to get some cream so I can make this. One of my favorite smells is garlic cooking in butter. *drooling now*

  6. I’m wondering if the sauce taste close to an alfredo. If I made chicken alfredo and made this dish a few days later would it seem like I made the same dish twice in one week? Since the only thing I’m really missing in this recipe compared to my alfredo is cream cheese I’m worried it’ll be too similar.

  7. very GOOD, AND A QUICK, EASY DINNER! wILL MAKE THIS AGAIN AND AGAIN!

  8. the worps were great ..My daughter liked it espicially the taste of the chees with the cheken

      1. RUDE MUCH? Maybe this person has a learning disability, or maybe their fingers are broken. you don’t know their story so buzz off.

        1. This could be their second or third language as well.

How many languages does rude ass know?

      2. He or she maDe their point. NO one is perfect and normal people overlook things like this. Obsessed people whO think they’re perfect criticize.

  9. I put some sweet onions in with the garlic and then de-glazed my pan with some chardonnay before adding the half n half and it was a very good

  10. Made this tonight served over linguini. So, so good! Husband loved it too… we will make again.

  11. Is the parmesan cheese the kind from the can or freshly Grated?

  12. What would go with this dish? My husband and I are trying to figure out what can be served with it. We love it so much.

    1. I make it with garlic mash! I’m making it tonight actually again it’s so delicious !

    2. 1…..I WOULD USE WHITE RICE with some chopped spinach mixed in with some roasted garlic (depending ON HOW MUCH GARLIC YOU USE IN MAIN DISH, ME PERSONALLY, I could NEVER USE TO MUCH GARLIC, LOVE IT!) SERVE OVER RICE. — or–

      2. Yuca/Yucca with roasted garlic and some Cilantro

  13. Made this dish as posted. It was very flavorful and chicken was tender and moist. Only problem I had was curdling and not enough sauce. Should heat be reduced before starting cream sauce?

    1. Yes, If the heat is really high it can curdle the cream.Next time lower it before adding the garlic and cream.

  14. I almost ruined this dish!! The chicken came out so nice and crispy pan seared but when I took it out and added the garlic and other ingredients when they mixed with the bits on the bottom of the pan it tasted so bad !! Luckily the ingredients were quick to throw together again after I washed out the pan. I’m so glad I didn’t give up on this dish because it turned out amazing !! I didn’t have any cream so I used milk with melted butter (as per my google search for a substitute) and added in some corn starch to the sauce to thicken it. Served with garlic mash and it was so good! Definitely a keeper but next Time I’ll wipe down the pan before adding the garlic and other ingredients !

    1. Good call to re-do the dish! sometimes if the pan is really hot the garlic burns and gives a bitter taste that is unpleasant. Next time, be sure to lower the heat before adding the garlic! 🙂

      1. Does it matter how you mince the garlic? I mean what method? I recently read that how you do it changes how strong it is. I honestly DON’t really cook much And found it out when looking up HOw to mince garlic after seeing minced garlic was an ingredient. Sorry I DON’t know why this is in all caps lol

        1. minced or crushed garlic will both work well. I like to use a garlic press to crush the garlic because it does bring out more flavor but minced garlic is also great. Just be sure to mince them as fine as possible in order to extract more flavor.

        2. Garlic loses flavor as you cook it. if you want a strong garlic flavor you should add it near the end of the cooking TIME,

  15. This dish was so easy and quick to make. My husband and I loved it!! I served it over linguine. Next time I’ll add mushrooms. My husband said, “That recipe is a keeper!”

    1. yum, glad you and your husband enjoyed the dish, April! 🙂

  16. Making this is sort of like a cross between how I make my “World Famous” White Chunky Chicken Chili and Alfredo Sauce.

  17. Hello just found your page! Love it! But what kind of cream do I use?

    1. Hey Ryan!

I’m making this dish as I type & I just used regular whipping cream.

  18. Hello! If I make pasta to go with this dish will there be enough sauce to spoon over it or would I need to make extra sauce?

    1. Hello! I just made this meal right now and I was also worried about that. I would definitely make some extra sauce. It was enough to cover my pasta, but it’s still on the dry side.

  19. I made this tonight as written with the exception of adding maybe up to 1/4 cup chicken stock. The chicken was moist and tender and the meal with extremely delicious. Thanks so much for this wonderful recipe. I’m keeping this one for future use many times over and have shared your recipe on Facebook so others can make and enjoy it.

    1. Yum! Potatoes and mushrooms sound like a great addition. Did you par-boil the potatoes first?
