Yes, frozen salmon can be cooked in the air fryer directly without defrosting. I actually prefer this over thawing because it results in delicious tender perfectly cooked salmon every time!
To cook frozen salmon in the air fryer begin with a frozen salmon fillet. I recommend using individually wrapped salmon fillets without the skin. Simply place the salmon fillets in the air fryer for 5 minutes to “defrost them”. Next, brush your desired seasoning mixture and continue cooking for another 10 minutes or until cooked through and tender.
How to Know When Salmon is Done Cooked Through
The best way to know when the salmon is done is by using a meat thermometer. The FDA recommends cooking salmon to an internal temperature of at least 145F. This will ensure the salmon is fully cooked through but if you like salmon on the softer side, you can remove it at 130F and it will continue to cook as it resets.
What to Serve with Air Fryer Salmon
Once your salmon is cooked through, immediately drizzle with a generous squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Serve with a side of asparagus or any other vegetable. You can also serve the salmon on a bed of rice or fresh salad.
