Take chicken salad to a new level with the addition of avocado. This naturally creamy chicken and avocado salad is healthy and contains no mayo or sour cream.
Ever since I tried avocado in a grilled chicken sandwich, I can no longer have chicken without avocado. The creamy avocado compliments chicken so well and the addition of cilantro and lime make it a combo to die for. This creamy salad is great in sandwiches, wraps, or with a side of vegetables if you are on a diet.
I’ve added this salad to my healthy lunch rotation because the rotisserie chicken breasts are lean and a great source of protein, the avocado is packed full of nutrition and because no mayo or cream is added, you can enjoy the salad guilt-free.
Making this fresh and flavorful salad is as simple as combining avocado, shredded chicken, roasted corn and red onion. You can also add minced green onion, tomatoes, cucumber, or diced bacon. For the herbs, we used cilantro but dill or parsley also work very well too!
Watch how to make the salad here:

This was DELICIOUS and so easy to make! We had leftover rotisserie chicken and some avocados and I’m so glad I stumbled upon this recipe.
We aren’t huge red onion fans so I opted for a small bit of chopped green onion. As others have stated, I really loved that this used lime juice rather than Mayo. It made it lighter, healthier, and tastier in my opinion. I added a chopped cucumber, 2 diced jalapeños, cumin & garlic powders to taste, and doubled the amount of cilantro & parsley.
So yummy! We ate this straight out of the mixing bowl with tortilla chips this time, but I look forward to trying this on pita bread in the future!
Love! Delicious and filling!
Made this for dinner tonight and it was really good. I made fresh corn and added kidney beans to it. I forgot the cilantro. Definitely will make this again.
I use dill and add bacon; absolutely delicious.
So yummy. Made this a few times and love it.
That’s wonderful. I’m so glad to hear that!
Loved this salad, so easy to make, will be making again! Used parsley and limes, and made the chicken in the air fryer and then shredded it. Thank you!
this is one of my favorite go to recipes for a healthy lunch. I’m wondering if I can freeze it because I just made a huge batch and would like to be able to eat it throughout the week or grab it out when I haven’t meal prepped. has anybody had any luck freezing?
How many ounces is considered one serving?
Absolutely healthy and delicious ! Very easy to make.
I added orzo pasta. Was delicious.
Loved it only added cherry tomatoes delicious 😋
How does this do in the fridge for a few days with the avacado?
HUGE success, and extremely easy. I made it so that I wouldn’t have to cook in these 118 degree Palm Spring days (I used leftover chicken). I followed the recipe pretty much, although I jacked the ingredients up a bit (2 tablespoons of cilantro? Not in MY house… closer to half a cup.), chilled it, and my wife dined on chicken salad and my son on cold corn tortilla tacos (I actually don’t eat chicken salad). It was so good and so easy that I’m making it again today for weekend snacking. The one deviation I made to the recipe was added a skosh of McCormick Salad Supreme seasoning… my wife thinks that Salad Supreme, like Windex, fixes everything.
I used canned white chicken and it was delicious!!!
Delicious! So simple yet so flavorful! A definite keeper!

I made this with romaine lettuce and a balsamic dressing and it was perfect! The fam loved it <3
Could you use canned chicken?
I use canned chicken, and love it. That makes it quicker – just make sure you separate the chicken into flakes when you take it out of the can.
This was absolutely amazing! My son helped me whip it up in no time at all and we devoured it for dinner. This will be in our rotation from now on. Thanks so very much for recipe.
Easy, delicious and so filling!
This looks fantastic. I could serve it with chips and my kids would devour it. I love how simple the dressing is. I have perfectly ripe AVOCADOS in the fridge right now. I am making this for dinner
