Bread often gets a bad rap, especially with the popularity of low-carb, gluten and grain-free diets. However, when using whole wheat bread and the right combination of toppings, toast can be a nutrient-rich breakfast, lunch or snack. So, here are 6 healthy toast toppings that you will surely love, whether you are craving something sweet or savory.

If you like peanut butter and jelly you are going to love this toast topping idea. One of my favorite quick late-night snacks is this peanut butter and banana toast. I like to top it with a drizzle of honey and a pinch of cinnamon for an added kick.

  • Peanut butter: For the healthiest option, use a natural peanut butter that only has peanuts and salt listed in the ingredients.
  • Banana: Sliced banana is the most delicious pairing with peanut butter!
  • Cinnamon: A pinch of cinnamon for extra delicious flavor! 

Avocado Egg
