How to Make Keto Waffles

Making these keto waffles is super easy and only takes a few minutes! I’ve included step by step photos and a full recipe card at the bottom of the post.

Begin by adding all the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth, about 1 minute. You want to make sure the cream chees is fully incorporated and almost lump free. At this point, you can go ahead and add your favorite add-ins. We like to add berries, or these delicious sugar-free chocolate chips for a keto-friendly sweet treat!

Next, grease a waffle maker and pour batter into the waffle maker. Cook according to waffle maker instructions or until crispy and golden! Enjoy with maple syrup, or with fried chicken, or with your favorite sauces!

Keto Maple Syrup:

Keto maple syrup is tricky to find because most “sugar-free” maple syrups contain hidden sugars. This Maple Syrup is the only brand we recommend (not sponsored!). It’s rich and thick, perfectly sweetened with natural sweeteners, and is by far the best maple syrup we’ve found.

How Many Carbs Are in this Keto Waffle?

There are 2 Net Carbs in each Waffle. 5 Net Carbs Subtract (1g Fiber) and (2g Sugar Alcohol) from the Erythritol.

What type of Waffle Maker will I Need?

You can make these waffles in a Belgian waffle maker and the recipe should yield 3-4 Begilan waffles or make them in a standard waffle maker. This recipe also works great in the dash mini waffle maker!

How to Store and Freeze Keto Waffles

These waffles are best eaten right away but can also be stored for future use. Leftovers can be kept in the fridge in an airtight container or zipseal bags for up to 4 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months. To reheat, simple pop in the toaster for a few seconds or until crispy!

  1. These waffles are the absolute best! Have been making them for a few years now. Every Sunday is keto waffle day. I add blueberries to the batter and use sugar-free syrup! Thanks so much for the recipe! They’re delicious!!

  2. This is awesome! I made blueberry syrup and poured over them.

  3. These taste good, but the eggs texture still comes though. So don’t expect it to feel like a waffle substitute.

Be careful that I don’t believe the net carbs are accurate. I got 4 net carbs per serving. A fourth of the cream cheese alone is 2 net carbs per serving and that’s before accounting for any other ingredients.

  4. They are delicious and very fluffy!! I wonde, if I put the batter in cake shape and bake it as a cake, would it work?

  5. My daughter made these for me when I came home after surgery. I needed healthy food to help me heal. These waffles are delicious so I don’t feel like I’m giving up anything

  6. Why does it says 8 oz cream cheese 1/2 block in the recipe

  7. I made these the other day and they were really good tasting. I’ve made other keto waffles from other websites and they either taste eggy, or alot of almond flour. I was skeptical about these but when I tred them, I was happy. Keeping this recipe for sure. Thank you.

  8. Absolutely delicious. And soooo easy. Thank You!!!

  9. Taste is good – BUT its really important to add one egg at a time. My batter was way too thin and I had to add more Almond Flour.

  10. I really enjoyed this recipe but will certainly cut it in half next time. Flavor was so good and satisfied the craving. I put 2 strawberries and a little less than 1/4 of blueberries on mine (could of used less). Mine didn’t crisp but the flavor was there. I’m thinking that maybe next time I’ll separate my eggs and whip the whites separately then fold them in. That’s how I do normal waffles.

  11. It says you can sun cream cheese with heavy cream. Use the same measurement as cream cheese?

  12. These waffles are serious delicious, I added a dash of cinnamon too! I also topped with Blueberries. 5 stars for sure ๐ŸŒŸ

  13. I didn’t have vanilla so I used almond extract and used coconut oil. Of course put butter and sugar free syrup on them after they were done. Even more yummy than the first time I made them!!!
    ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹

  14. I made these for breakfast today and used my little dash waffle iron. I was able to get 18 delicious heart shaped waffles with your recipe. I froze 11 of them for another time. So quick, easy, and yummy. Thank you!

  15. Totally making these tonightโ€ฆeven the comments are making my mouth drool.

  16. Delicious, I’ve tried, a few recipes and this is the closest to the real thing. I used Carmel extract instead, I’m out of vanilla. New staple in my house, Keto on!

  17. Very good! Mine didn’t come out crispy either but that didn’t matter. Will make these a great deal. Would made a great sandwich bread also!

  18. Can the batter be made ahead and used within 2-3 days?

    1. I would not suggest that as the eggs will not hold up well.

  19. Just tried these…taste good. On thing, mine didn’t come out crispy? I did use an artificial (Vegan?) Creamcheese….are they crispy like a normal waffle if made with real cream cheese?

    1. Update….last one was cooked a bit hotter and the waffle iron was almost overfilled and it definitely seems more “waffle-like” So I might have been not cooking them right:)

  20. Obviously not like real waffles but darn close. I find that the more crispier the waffle, the tastier it is. I have been missing my waffles for Sunday brunch and these were satisfying, will incorporate them into my diet from here on out. Not waffles but a great replacement.

  21. These waffles are our go-to weekend brunch! We have made them 5 or 6 times, but the last time we made them we separated the egg whites, beat them to stiff peaks, and folded back in just prior to putting in the waffle iron. Itโ€™s a little more fussy but they had a fuller body. I think we will do that going forward!

  22. These are great! Made breakfast for dinner and used my Mickey Mouse shaped waffle maker and it made 7. My husband even loved them! Heated the leftovers in the toaster this morning and they were still pretty good. Thanks!

  23. Yay! Thank you for this keto waffle recipe. I have been missing waffles since I started a keto diet. This recipe is quite good. It smells exactly like waffles as it cooks, the taste and texture have a hint of almond flour, but itโ€™s minimal. Once you top your keto waffle (I like S/F Whipped Topping and a small handful of berries on mine) you cannot tell the difference at all.

  24. Very good! Satisfied my urge for waffles. I made one mistake and decided there should be salt in the recipe. Nope – should have followed it exactly.

  25. I’m not strict keto. I’m diabetic well controlled with a low carb diet. I altered this recipe with 15 raspberries pureed with 1 1/2 tblsp of Too Good berry greek yogurt plus 1 tblsp of coconut flour to thicken up. These were pretty great.

  26. This recipe was good, better than others I have tried. Definitely will make again.

  27. Made these yesterday for my family and AMAZING!!!! So happy we are living the Keto LIFE! Thank you for this amazing recipe!

  28. Has anyone tried freezing these waffles? I made a half recipe for a weekend breakfast, but Iโ€™d love to try making a full recipe and saving the extras for a weekday breakfast.

    1. I have frozen these to eat throughout the week. I feel like they freeze beautifully, but you will want to heat them up in a toaster or toaster oven. Of course they are better when fresh made but heated in the toaster oven until the edges are slightly crisp is a very close second! And while I agree the ChocZero syrup is good, to me I much prefer the sugar free Mrs. Butterworths. I find itโ€™s much thicker and richer tasting, without the โ€˜sliminessโ€™ found in other sf products.

    2. Can you make these ahead of time and freeze? If so how long will they be good for when freezing

      1. You can make them ahead of time and they will last in the freezer for up to 3-4 months.

  29. This is definitely the best waffle recipe. I was skeptical as batter seems thin but it is perfect. Not eggy at all. I used half cream cheese half whipping cream because thats was handy.

  30. OMG! Just tried this recipe. Added a tsp maple extract because, no syrup. Cut the erythritol to 1 1/2 Tbls to suit me, no yuck cooling or aftertaste. These are SO GOOD. Taste like regular waffles. Will be a regular for me. I filled the waffle iron each time and they were beautiful. Granular & gritty ? You did something way wrong !

    1. Taste eggy, but they did look like flour waffles. Not terrible, but I don’t think I’ll make this again.

  31. These are perfect! I use a little less almond flour (like a Tbs less) and make up the difference with psyllium husk powder. And I use half monkfruit sweetener and half brown swerve. They are delicious!

  32. These were wonderful, I added bacon bits to it. Wow, with sugar free maple syrup, this is a keeper!

  33. The ingredients list Keto Maple Syrup. The instructions say put all the ingredients in a blender. Even the syrup?

  34. I don’t ever comment on recipes but wanted to say these were delicious! If you haven’t made them yet then do it!!! I halved the recipe and bnb used my mini dash and it made 4. I added some lilys to the last 2. I’m just happy I had 2 to go with syrup since I ate 2 as soon as they came out cause they were so light and fluffy!! Made them last night and about to go make them for breakfast to go with my coffee. Yummy!

  35. These were delicious and super easy! I have been on Leto for over 2 years now and a lot of times, keto-fied things rarely taste like the original. These might be even better than regular waffles, in my opinion! Thanks for creating a recipe to satisfy my carb craving!

    1. I used the dash mini waffle maker. I wonder what the net carbs are for the dash size waffle which is much smaller than the waffle maker in the photo.

      1. Do you use all the egg or just the ehites

  36. Delicious! I sifted my almond flour first and mixed everything but the egg whites with a whisk. I also replaced half of the monk fruit sweetener with swerve brown. I then folded in beaten egg whites and blueberries. They were so fluffy and flavorful! I wasn’t expecting keto waffles to taste so good. Thanks for the great recipe!

  37. I love the almond flour version, but what does โ€œ Almond flour (can sub 1:4 ratio, 2 tbsp coconut flour)โ€ mean?
    1. You can replace 1/4 of the almond flour with 2tbsp of coconut flour, or
    2. You can replace *all* of the almond flour with just 2tbsp of coconut flour?

It seems like theyโ€™re indicating the second, but that sounds crazyโ€”1.5tsp of flour is enough for a whole waffle?

    1. COCONUT FLOUR is a lot more absorbent than almond flour. Therefore, only a much smaller amount can be used when replacing almond flour.

  38. OMG. I was so in the mood for waffles and this was by far the easiest recipe I found. Excellent! I did not add the sweetener and used 4oz heavy creamy for the cream cheese All in the blender then into hot waffle iron flip a few times until smoke is little to none,. Topped with a few blueberries and sugar free Maple syrup.

  39. best and deliciousssss waffles ๐Ÿ˜‹ the recipe is easy to do !!!! Now my favorite keto waffles ! Tksssss

  40. I’ve tried many keto waffle recipes, this is perfect. No question you would never know they were keto. Texture is as it should be and flavor is wonderful. I actually tasted the raw batter before I baked them cause I did not want to waste my time baking another lousy tasting waffle.

  41. Followed the recipe ,but used the Bullet to blend the ingredients. Very light, crispy. Reminded me of the buckwheat waffles my husband makes. Looking for ingredients that will give these more density.

  42. These are the absolute simplest and most favorite of all the keto recipes Iโ€™ve tried thus far! We enjoy them probably a little too often, but wow … nothing like them!

    1. I made these tonight. Did not realize I needed to use a 1:4 ratio for coconut flour, however, they turned out awesome. A trick I’ve learned from my mom is to fluff the eggs before adding anything else. Get that air in there.
I made mine with a mini waffle iron I got for Christmas. Made enough so that my hubby can just grab a couple and a sausage, throw them in the microwave and eat them on the way to work.
They’re beautiful and thick, a little eggy tasting, but aren’t waffles that way anyway?
Wish I could post pictures. They’re so thick and moist.

  43. These are so good. I woke up this morning (on a workday) with a craving for fluffy pancakes or waffles. I found your recipe on google and was skeptical at first. After all– how could these ingredients taste like anything more than a grainy almond meal omelet? But I was so wrong. I think blending the batter is the game changer here. The waffles had a light and fluffy bready texture and a nice traditional flavor. And they literally took just a few moments to make with hardly any clean-up. What a winner. You just gained a subscriber.

  44. You say you can sub heavy whipping cream for cream cheese – how much HWC would you use to make that sub?
    Thanks!
    -g

  45. Theyโ€™re soft, fluffy and crispy on the outside

  46. These aren’t meant to be crispy, but soft and chewy, if you want crispy then try beating the egg whites to stiff peaks and folding in the rest of the ingredients. Or trial amounts of baking powder in there.

  47. That’s expected tbh since they haven’t used baking powder. I would recommend whipping the egg whites till medium peaks, mix everything else together then combine the egg whites and other mixture by folding not whisking.

    cook and enjoy!

  48. I made this is morning. They were delicious! I softened the cream cheese with the butter, used regular almond flour and a hand mixer. They were great and easy! Thank you!

  49. They weren’t crunchy but they were delicious. Maybe try putting them in the toaster after the cool completely to get a crunch?

  50. These were really good! I made one batch with the cream cheese, butter, half almond/ half coconut flour W/ monk fruit. They were excellent!

The second batch I made for my daughter who is gluten and dairy free, so I used dairy free heavy whipping cream almond flour (but it was a little runny, so I added a tsp of coconut flour), coconut oil and the monk fruit. They were really good too!

I think next time I’ll add a little salt.

These did not crisp up at all in either of my waffle makers. They were very light and fluffy (until they deflated). I tried cooking them longer than normal, but it didn’t really make a difference, and I was hungry! LOL!

The taste is excellent, a little eggier than my normal recipe, but really good!!! I’ll be saving this recipe.

    Thanks!!!

  51. Delicious. Used Swerve Granulated and Coconut oil. Definitely needs a Blender!!! (Not mixer). Added 1/2 cup blueberries to Waffle iron (not to mixure – else they end up blended). It also helps to soften the cream cheese. Batter was a bit runny but worked out anyway. I found it better to run two cycles of the waffle Iron to get that dark texture. – Also helps make it more crispy.

  52. I have tried many keto waffle recipes but this is by FAR the best! These are light, tasty, and easy to make!
    Thank you!!!

  53. Best keto waffle recipe I have found yet! So delicious. I doubled the batch and put in freezer. Took them out and popped into toaster..worked like a charm. Yummy! Thanks so much.

    1. Hi Julie, I was curious how they froze. Iโ€™ve tried a bunch of recipes (some pretty good…. others were a one time deal). But Iโ€™m trying to find a recipe that you can freeze and still come out crispy. Or at least not on the mushy side and floppy. thanks

  54. As keto waffles go, these are probably my favorite for 1) ease of preparation, and 2) texture. We usually default to a premade, storebought keto pancake/waffle mix and the waffles are always pretty dry and uninteresting. I like the chewier texture of these waffles and the mild flavor goes great with a simple berry compote or sugar-free syrup. It’s nice to be able to whip these up in a couple of minutes with a blender. Makes weekend brunch easy!

  55. These waffles are so good and easy to make. They are not heavy like some made with almond flour, and not too eggy either. I did add an extra 1/2 tsp of baking powder after the first batch for more thickness. I also used the batter for pancakes.

  56. These were super delish. Question: can i refrigerate leftover batter/mix? if so, how many days does it hold? thank you!

    1. As someone very new to keto worrying about missing sugar I can’t tell you how good these are. I had them with strawberries and sugar free maple syrup and could not tell the difference between these and normal Waffles. They are so light and fluffy and not at all crumbly or strange tasting like I expected. Thank you so much! I feel I can now do this diet long term

  57. Oh my, these are the best!!! Believe me, I have been on keto for almost a year. These are great. I used my old waffle maker and not a Belgium waffle maker and it made 2/4’s.

  58. These things are so good! I followed the recipe exactly. Mixed the ingredients in my magic bullet. And cooked on the Dash mini waffle iron. I got 10-11 out of one batch and freeze them. I just pop them in the toaster in the morning for a quick and delicious keto breakfast. Obviously they are better fresh but still taste good one frozen and toasted. Using the given nutritional info itโ€™s about .8 net carbs per mini waffle. Will be making these guys weekly!

  59. I eat โ€œchafflesโ€ often, but tried this recipe out today because I was out of mozzarella and still wanted waffles. Oh my word – I had no idea what I was missing out on. These were absolutely delicious! I made mini waffles in my mini waffle maker & they were perfect. My Non-Keto family members agreed that they were great too!

  60. Thanks for recipe.
I used a mixer and the were delicious but dry.
I added Blueberries and 1/2 Cuo Almond milk. They were delicious too.

  61. Five stars
These waffles were delicious. I made them with my Ninja blender. Why do you show a mixer when the directions say blender.

I wrote your directions and wondered why you tell us to mix ingredients in blender FIRST.

1 . Grease and preheat waffle iron with cooking spray or butter

    2. Add Etc

3 . Pour batter into waffle iron

    4. Cook until golden and crispy. (About 3 minutes) test with less time and see whatโ€™s best for your waffle iron

I added about 1 teaspoon Golden Flax Seed and used Lakanto Monk
fruit with Ertherthritol Golden raw cane sugar replacement

This is soooo good that am going to try to make my slice of Keto bread recipe from this recipe for f yours. Thanks for a delicious recipe. You got it right!!!

    1. Thanks so much for the detailed feedback, Lenora! So glad the recipe worked out for you ๐Ÿ™‚

  62. Made the batter with almond flour and the coconut oil. The batter was a little thin so I added a half tablespoon of coconut flour. I also put in a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg. Made the batter the night before to have for Easter morning. Batter held up fine in the fridge. Made the waffles in the Belgian waffle maker this morning. They were really good! Great recipe!

  63. What is the measurements for heavy cream. Will rate post using heavy cream

    1. The heavy cream would be a 1:1 ratio to the cream cheese.

  64. There’s already almond flour in these…perhaps add a little more sweetener to your taste and mix them better/longer next time.

  65. I doubled the recipe and it was delicous. I used Xylitol sweetener and a little salt. I always sift My almond flour after measuring it. YUMMY. This was My first time to make waffles…. and I am 65. My husband loved them.

  66. I’ve tried many keto pancakes, french toast and crepes…and this is by far the best recipe yet…I found if you put in the blender and let it mix real well it comes out yummy and fluffy…I think it makes a difference …much better if you cook in a waffle maker…I bought one of those cheap 4″ mini waffle makers for $10 and it was perfect…now I think I will invest in a bigger waffle maker to cut down on the cooking time..thanks for the recipe!!

    1. Excellent! I thought I was eating non keto waffles!!

    1. I haven’t tried it dairy-free and considering the high dairy content I would just say test it with dairy cheese!

      1. Absolutely delicious and anyone who says otherwise has no tastebuds!

    2. I made them dairy free by using coconut oil and a dairy free whipping cream. I added a touch of extra coconut flour because they were runnier this way than the regular way, but they turned out great!

  67. These waffles are amazing! I made them for the first time this morning and I already canโ€™t wait until the next time we have waffles. Even my kids loved them. Thank you for the recipe.

  68. My husband loved them. They were nice and fluffy . I will make them again.

  69. My husband loved them. They were nice and fluffy. I didn’t add anything extra.

    1. Tried for first time it was so easy to make and added Blueberries to dough and whipped cream on the end product!! Thank you it was delicious

  70. Could the batter be made the night before and then cooked on the waffle iron in the morning? My brain doesn’t function enough at 3:45 am to make this. ๐Ÿ˜‚

    1. I haven’t tried doing that but please let us know how it turns out if you do! ๐Ÿ˜‰

      1. These were amazing!!! I added cinnamon and Lily’s chocolate chips as well they came out so good!!

        1. Cinnamon and chocolate chips sound like a delicious addition!

  71. delicious delicious DELICIOUS! I followed your recipe exactly But I added a half teaspoon of allspice into the second baTch. ThIs is a really good recipe thank you for posting Iโ€™ll make it again.

    1. tried this today – it was great! added berries and cream – yummy!!

    1. Jo zimnySounds to me like JD did not mix it enough you have to really whip it up it will be creepy if you do that I found that out. says:

Sounds like Jd. DIDN’T mix it properly, i used my stick blender aNd it worked beautifully.

    2. These weregood, but the carb count seems off. I tried several brands if almond flour and could not get the carb count below 4net carbs, even subtracting out fiber and sweetener. What brand of flour did toy use? Both Bob’s and Blue Diamond are 4net carbs per 2Tbsp

  72. I love this RECIPE. I am doing lazy keto so i used coconut sugar and i put an Extra tablespoon of it in the Batter. My family and i loved it.

    1. So happy you and your family enjoyed the waffles! Thanks for the review and for stopping by, Elizabeth <3

  73. Will this recipe make pancakes? I don’t have a waffle iron.

    1. We haven’t tested it for pancake but it should work! Test it out with 1 pancake and if the pancakes r chewy add a tablespoon or two of almond flour.
